Not saying he's gonna win but he definitely has a chance. Clottey lost to Margarito but was very competitive with a cheating Marg. He also broke his hand in the 4th round and to be competitive still fighting with a broken hand is impressive enough. Other than that, he lost to Cotto (which a lot of people thought he won), and in my opinion was paid not to throw punches against Pacquiao. Canelo is strong and has good hand speed but tends to fade a bit late. His stamina seemed to improve a bit in his last two fights, but if Clottey can keep his high guard up and keep a steady pressure towards Canelo, this can be competitive. Clot try's power is severely underrated and his chin is a 10. I'm putting my money on Canelo but I wouldn't be too shocked if Vlottey spoiled the plans for 2015.
Clottey is good, but just because he beat Mundine, people are hyping him up, neglecting the fact that Mundine was shot and Mosley was so old he was having back spasms when Mundine "stopped" him. Clottey doesn't stand a chance in my opinion.
if clottey was paid off, he would have flopped/dived in the 2nd or 3rd round. he wouldn't have stood there and let pac swung 1200x at him. see wilder-scott, briggs-green for dives.
His loss to Baldamir is also very controversial seeing as he was ahead on point at the time of dubious DQ. Pacquiao is his only really decisive loss.
Is the "Clottey was paid off against Pacquiao" nonsense really doing the rounds?? THATS HOW HE FIGHTS! Hes never been some all action fighter that lets his hands go. He has 2 modes, defence and offence. Pacquiao put him under pressure all night and he never got to come out of his shell. He still landed some nice shots if people forget.
Can you blame them?. Clottey has always been a let down when a big fight approaches. While beating Mundine in his hometown is definitely worth bragging about, I'm still expecting Clottey to fold against Alvarez.
First of all, Clottey has to "fight" his corner before entering the ring. Maybe you didn't realize before but they put superglue on his forehead therefore he is not allowed to throw punches once he defends himself.
Yes im sleeping on Joshua Clottey . He was an Elite WW back in 07 . But this is now 2014 . On top of that Hes going up against a fighter that is impossible to win a decision . Canelo showed in his last fight , that all he needs to do is win 5 rnds and he will still get the decision . Clottey is aware hes going to lose and chances of winning is extremely low . Hes already accepted defeat , hes coming for that payday .
