ortiz is the big underdog and rightly so. his record is by no means perfect and he's facing the best boxer in the world. i do think however people are overlooking ortiz's potential in this fight.

people are looking at his record and style, saying he's tailor made for for floyd. its as if people are looking at ortiz like he's another katsidis, gatti or ward. just a crude slugger with out a plan.

for one ortiz isn't a slugger. he's a measured pressure fighter, with big power and unlike gatti and hatton, who floyd dispatched with he's actually bigger and heavier than floyd.

ortiz is going to exert pressure and use the physical advantages he has and test floyd in this fight. i think its going to be very close!

    Yes they are.

Ortiz is a live underdog, and whilst Floyd should win, experience, ability to control dictate range and offset Ortiz with movement being vital ingredients, Ortiz has the potential to hurt Floyd if he gives him a stationary target, but the real question is, how long will movement, angles, the jab, keep Ortiz at bay? Cause sooner or later he's gonna abandon his Boxing and start bringing it, now does Mayweather have enough power to keep him honest? I dont know if he does, that's what makes it interesting in that sense.

One of the keys for Ortiz, is that he's a pressure guy, but a SOUTHPAW, meaning he has the potentially to take away Floyd's ability to sit on the ropes and pinch a rest like he usually does.

Floyd had fought pressure guys before, but not ones with the power of Ortiz who potentially have the ability, cause of his Southpaw stance, to land on him

Mayweather, even if he wins, will be made to fight at a faster pace than he's comfortable with imo.

I can't see how Ortiz can win as long as Mayweather has not seriously declined during his layoff.

Ortiz looked very impressive against Berto, but Berto stood it front of him all too often and allowed Ortiz to get his shot's off. When Berto did box he was in control but all to often was too static.

Mayweather will simply not be there to be hit, his style will give Ortiz fits, he will constantly be out of position and I expect Mayweather to dominate him and either win by wide UD or a late stoppage.

i dont think floyd will undeerestimate ortiz as doing so would be a mistake as ortiz can punch! however floyd will beat ortiz he is just too smart for the somewhat inexperienced (at the very top level) ortiz

Nobody is underestimating him, but he's against Floyd here. No amount of estimation would help him win this fight.

It would be great for boxing if Floyd loses. The guy is awesome and will even beat up girlfriends to sell a fight, but he doesn't fight enough

Kinda but you have to keep in mind that styles make fights. Ortiz gets hit a lot and he has never fought anyone like Floyd.
He can win but he probably wont.

Besides being a master of boxing, Mayweather is also a master of selecting opponents that are perfect prey for his style.
As far as Floyd is concerned , Ortiz is no threat. He's probably correct, he has been up to now.

Ortiz is a legit world champ. The best Welter out the not named manny or Floyd.
    Big,young, aggressive.

Its a legit fight, that I expect Floyd to win.

All that needs to be said, is that Ricky Hatton found his way inside against Floyd.
