you are correct, ellerbe. im an ace on those machines, but i dont have devastating power. when i hit a guy, it freezes them on the spot, like a jolt of a powerful electric current, but they dont just crumble to the ground, most of them dont anyway. here is what ive written here before on the subject. just realized theres a mistake in my above post, you want to hit the bag just BELOW, the center line.
But ur not at the highest level.. Everyone can punch its about what level you punch power is at.. Everyone can draw but there is varying levels of ability. I also don't believe that the first drawing you did was of the highest standard you would have practiced and taught yourself
I agree it suits him. Pacquiao is more than just a puncher. He has freakish athleticism and stamina with also a great durability. His punching technique was still flawed. Muhammad Ali's defense was flawed, but it doesn't mean he's not one of the greatest defensive boxers of all time. his flaws became his greatest attribute because he made those flaws work for him, while 99% of the boxers would of got flattened by those flaws.
Pacquiao power and the SPEED is the game changer. He hits at weird angles and most boxers can't anticipate. It's the punches you don't see or expect that hurt you the most. But real punchers even if you see the punch and anticipate it and it lands it will do damage. I would say it's BORN. Pacquiao power does make boxers back off a lot which tells me he hits hard for a small fella.
Pacquiao certainly hits hard. I wouldn't want to take a punch from him that's for certain, and i'm a lot bigger than he is. He would knock me the F out LOL. Naseem was similar to pacquiao in the sense that his technique was flawed, but my god could he punch as well. These guys are born punchers. You could train all you want, but the chances of having that kind of power is very unlikely.
You are BORN with punching power. You can train to be more effective in delivering it, or maximising power. But its not simply an equation of speed x mass = power. There are technically perfect boxers, who deliver a punch to perfection but lack knock outs and lack power. There are others who arm punch with poor technique, and have their opponents laying out cold. Generally if you get most of your mass behind the punch, deliver the punch with maximum speed, then its going to be to your maximum power.
naah, ive never hurt anyone with gloves on. for about a decade, i used to be in the clubs and the bars at least 3 times a week, so i was around a lot fake badasses, and i was about as tolerant as i come across here.
I'm going to disagree with that conclusion. Sure, punching power has to do with moving your mass fast, but that's only the initial input. Once you have the initial input, you add on multipliers to it : the purity of the punch (meaning you're moving the mass in the same direction as your punch goes), using atleast 2 of the 4 principles of movement for power (falling forward, springing forward, surging upward or swirling your shoulde with your back muscles and shifting the weight from one leg to another), using your powerline that runs across the arm for the delivery (it's related to your pinky knuckle), clasping the hand at the moment of impact, staying balanced and using that balance to have some "grip" power generation, some people might also add driving through and shoulder snap. These are all acting as "multipliers" to your mass x speed, and therefore it's possible to boost your punching power tremendously if you bring those things in. And of course that's just talking about "punching power" (since it's what mostly concerns me in this thread) and not how to set up that power, with timing, unseen shots, hitting the right spots, etc.
It's definitely possible to improve punching abilities of almost anyone, but you just can't teach some people to become great punchers — either for psychical or psychological (to punch really hard you need to be willing to except the risk of being punched really hard in the process as well) reasons. So, it definitely more born than made.
The True Legendary Punchers I think I would say it's a Gift.....Just like Usain Bolt was born to Run.!!!
