I was watching old boxing footage on youtube today
hearnse durant and I think nowdays roberto would have had the fight called on him much earlier
I notice that with a lot of older fights
do youy think that refs call fights too quick now

No, the safety of the fighter comes first. But some referee's are too cautious but some are not cautious enough. Depends which referee really.

id rather see a fight stopped questionably early than a fighter go out in a body bag

Yes, no doubt. Way too many fights these days are stopped too damn early... and what irks me are fans like MancMexican over there who seem to be alright with them. :verysad I hope the sport doesn't get too pussified and they start making professionals wear head gear and **** like that.

some fights are stopped pre maturely ie Andy Lee, but of course im going to say that. but overall I think the refs do a good job. When a fighter is in trouble it is clear to all when the time is right for a stoppage to be declared.

Its good and bad. Some fights should be stopped earlier and others are stopped too fast. It will always be the same. For example, if the Gman/Benn fight would have been stopped when Benn was getting beat in the early rounds maybe Gman would have had more fights. Then there is always a bull**** stoppage and there are lots of those. So to answer the original question...I dont know?

you're an idiot. I said i prefer an early stoppage to someone getting killed. If you think the opposite then you should seek out treatment.

for the record all fighters not on their back deserve a 10 count but fighters are too brave for their own good, or do you want all your heroes to end up with parkinsons or worse?

    Yes, they certainly do.

    This is fighting, afterall.

In these modern times........., the refs are probably too afraid to be responsible for someone getting hurt, so they call them off waaaaaaaaaaaaaay to quckly, in some cases.

Golota McBride comes to mind, off hand. McBride was not even close to being hurt bad enough to call that fight, no way. Not yet, anyway.

And there are many, many other examples of fights being called off way too quickly. It happens so often, anymore, you can almost expect it.

I think a lot more fights should have standing 8 counts... Just so refs can get a better look at the fighter... I do care about the safety of the fighter but the refs need to make better decisions... Well, certain ones.

Steve Smoger NEVER calls fights early. He lets fighters go until their brains are scrambled eggs...

    Smoger is OLD SCHOOL!!!

No, I'm not an idiot, and I'm also not some complete puss like you who'd rather see fights stopped way too early which robs fighters of their opportunities at money and bigger fights. That whole, "I'd rather see fights stopped too early than too late," is just a complete cop out. Fights whould be stopped at the exact right moments. If we had better commissions to train some of these incompetent refs in boxing than that would be the case.
