Are steroids really that much of a advantage for a boxer?

    Hi td. :good

Yes a drama queen for sure.

ALL proper training with OR without drugs takes hard work and dedication, but sometimes it sounds like you're downplaying their effects. They aren't the icing on the cake (or words to that effect) as I think you've described them before (apologies if it wasn't you) on the contrary they ARE the cake. The difference is night and day, you know it, or else why take them in the first place? I know it's no easy street and they mean you have to push on harder still, but y'know, we ALL push on harder still..

So yeah in a way they ARE a kind of magic pill. And of course it's cheating. Not perhaps in pro sport where everyone's at it, but on a personal level it's taking the EASY way. The HARD way is to keep going WITHOUT seeing results for long, long periods and carrying on (you probably see this as a waste of time). Or seeing enhanced guys outlifting you by miles and carrying on regardless. Or understanding that as you get older yes performance slows without TRT but DEALING with it. The proper way.

That's my philosophy. It's a character thing to me. It's about being mentally strong enough to face down all your demons without a safety net. I know you have your philosophy too tdf and we differ in the way we approach all this, so no judging from me here, as I say just my tuppence ha'penny.

i wouldnt say PEDS are the icing on the cake ,id say they are they cherry on the icing on the cake...the last little bit right at the end...

on that show on BBC the fella had a 7% increase in output on peds i think?that means 93 % had zero to do with the drugs....

i do think stuff like DMAA and EPO is more of an advantage in boxing than the usual anabolic steroid type drugs though.

There seems tp be a fundamental misunderstanding of what PEDs can actually DO, among those who say things like "they can't give you good technique". Of course they can't. What they can do is help you train harder and longer than your clean opponents so your technique is never held back by having to recover after a tough workout. They can help your stamina so you can keep throwing good punches and keep moving all night long. They can help your power so that, with your improved technique and stamina, you can throw meaningful punches in the championship rounds. This idea that being on drugs is a lazy cop-out, and that accusing someone of being on drugs is a dismissal of their boxing ability, is absolute nonsense. The top dopers in any skill sport are among the absolute elite of that sport, and work as hard as anybody. But if you consider the essence of sport to be a measure of pure talent + effort, taking PEDs is still cheating. It isn't laziness, it isn't an admission of your inferiority, it's just cheating.

To a degree they ARE magic. AAS are designed to build muscle in people who are ill. They will do that whether that person trains or not. Sometimes those who constantly try to downplay the effects of the drugs are merely dining out on their own ill-gotten gains. Whether using or not some folk train hard and some don't..

I don't see it as cheating in pro sport because it's an unspoken rule that everyone's doing it and it's the price of doing business. Among the casual fraternity juicers are of the same weak mindset as recreational drug abusers. They're looking for answers in the wrong place.

You can't bring up single fights and take that as evidence for the effectiveness of steroids. Steroids has been proven to make you faster, stronger and have better stamina. What boxer wouldn't call that an advantage?
