Are steroids really that much of a advantage for a boxer?

Steroids don't give you a Chin or give you skills you don't have. Look at James Toney he was addicted to steroids and lost to several mediocre fighters in his career.

People on here act like you take steroids and wake up the next morning as the incredible hulk. It simply doesn't work that way. The only things that might help with Boxing are EPO and hGH (for recovery) and that is it. Steroids are actually counter productive to what a Boxer is trying to do.

Cyclists, who are skinny and quick of limb, use steroids for recovery, so they can train harder and race for weeks on end. Steroids aren't just for bulk. They promote muscle repair.

Exactly. It's all about what you take and how much, which varies according to the particular requirements of your sport.

How about a coked up Mike Tyson? And aging Antonio Tarver? James Toney winning the HW title? Christ that took me 5 seconds to think of 3 scenarios off the top of my head.

EPO is what they use mainly. And hGH.

That was Toney's excuse after he was caught. If you believe James Toney then you also have to believe the same for Vitali Klitschko's failed test in the amateurs. James Toney is a two time convicted steroid cheat and he was most likely addicted to them.

So? I haven't disputed that. You said steroids are counter-productive for boxers. They aren't. The suggestion shows an ignorance of steroids and an ignorance of boxing.

steroids don't do squat for boxers and Victor Conte agrees with me. EPO is where it is at.

Every time an athlete has a hard work out, or an injury, testosterone can help him recover. It rebuilds muscle fibres, aiding injury recovery. This is a fact. It helps boxers in the same way it helps cyclists, tennis players and other athletes you wouldn't expect to benefit from steroids.

When Conte suggested that steroids were the reason behind Marquez's late-career success, was he agreeing with you then?

dont knock Roids or Recreational smarties until you tried em:nut

i would agree that EPO and HgH would be a much better option as a ped for a boxer though.DMAA also....

it will be interesting to see AJ go a few more rounds and see if he can carry them muscles around for a full fight

most sports have no interest in catching their stars using. there are also always new drugs that aren't detectable yet. it is hilarious that most americans think baseball players are on peds, but football players aren't.

Anyone that thinks PED's don't help boxers is a total idiot.

This isn't 1985. So stop with the garbage.

Depending on what you're using, some can help you recover from injuries faster. Which in turn can help you train more. Training more can help you in your skill and cardio department. I added that last part for the slow people.

That isn't even counting, muscles growth and added speed. That is of course depending on what you're using and how you train.

Any argument against this is purely from the side of being stupid.
