I understand what you all have said, and in a way I dont feel I got the best answer out there yet (Bailey have a good post by all means), but at the same time I'm starting to understand a little how people think in this forum. A poster in another thread said "a fighter is as good as his last fight". And I think that it sums it up from what i can read on this thread from everyone. For now, with his win over Kessler (and the fact that Kessler won his last fight) everybody seems to think that Ward is the best out there. But I remember when Abraham did KOed Taylor, a lot of people were talking about how he is hard to hit/hurt, how he is a hard puncher and all. Now, nobody is talking about Abraham wining the super six, even if he is still the first on points at this moment. I guess only time will tell whats the truth about it.
I'd say yes and no. Some people seem to overate Ward and Dirrel and others overate Abraham, Froch and Kessler. From what i have seen its a minority of Americans overating Ward and Dirrel and the same goes for a minority of Europeans overating their fighters. I think its too early to rate any of the fighters to be honest. Ward and Dirrel haven't had enough fights, plus Ward seems to like using his head as much if not more than his gloves, Direll didn't exactly look good against Froch but looked great against Abraham. As for Froch he is quite clearly the least skilled of the fighters, however he is tough as nails and has some good wins under his belt. Kessler is just too robotic but does the basics very well and beat Froch, and Abraham just isn't active enough but has some serious power and comes on strong at the end. In regards to Bute from what i have seen of him he looks very impressive but hasn't fought enough good competition to really tell how good he really is. In summary i think we need a good 1.5 years to 2 years to find out just how good any of the fighters are, before we calling them the next big thing.
How is that?? Did Ward get KO'd and I missed it?? I just love the way that people say that a fighter that has never been stopped or even really hurt in a fight has a weak chin. While fighters that get hurt and stopped have great chins. Power is only a part of boxing, there has been alot of ATG fighters that didnt have power. What are you talking about???
The super 6 fighters are definitely not overrated. If anything, they're being underrated by people putting Bute above them on p4p lists.
Who was Ward's best win before the super six started? Who was Froch's best win? Who did Taylor lose to twice in two different divisions? Who did Green lose to? Who are Abraham's two best wins? Who were Dirrell's best wins? Do the math pal.
I think that would be Pavliks best bet. to go to super middle. tons of action there for him. everyone been waiting for him and abraham ...or bute. he'll be comfortable there. he still needs to do a j.t. job on the disrespectful martinez.
Pavlik was a middlewight when the SUPER middleweight tournament started. Froch's best win is Dirrell and Taylor. Wards would be Kessler Abraham has a slew. Pavlik has been worked over by Hopkins and now Martinez. I wouldn't really slate him to the be the favorite just yet. Look, I like Pavlik, but unlike you I can see the faults in his game. I even said that he should fight Bute, and though I would tip Bute in that fight Pavlik would have a chance. However, I woulnd't interject Pavlik into a thread such as this just so I could proclaim to the wolrd my lover for the guy like you did.. Pavlik 0-1 against super middles. Pavlik 0-2 in his last two fights against decent opponents. All of the super 6 outside of Green are doing a little bit better. Keith
If you knew even half of what you boldly claim to know you would know that Pavlik is 13-1 with 11 KO's in fights between 164 and 170. You would also know that with the exception of Kessler every other guy in the tourney was living off Pavlik's left overs, or guys who aren't as good as Pavlik's left overs, when the super six started. Why don't you do a bit of research instead of making **** up. Abraham has "a slew" of good winsatsch Like who? Lujaun Simon? Mahir Oral? Shannon Taylor who was coming off a tko loss to Raymond Joval? From the thread starter's original post: Reading is fundamental.
I think Pavlik just had a bad night against martinez, he got cut pretty bad and if that obscured your vision you wouldn't be able to fight either. I would like to see Pavlik fight Bute that would be intersting.
