Just like the stuff you said about Martinez and Williams. Whoops, sorry about that. Really, you deride guys for beating Miranda and Taylor, but you take those two guys out of the mix for Pavlik, who the **** has he beat??? And you wonder why you are the ass end clown of the forum and everyone was so excited to see Pavlik loseatsch Keith
Nah... if we are really serious, Ward and Dirrell are two of the best P4P talent the US has to offer at the moment. And Kessler, Froch and Abraham are in a class of their own in Europe (along with the Klits, Haye, Adamek - and that's pretty much it - Khan is still a newbie, but may get there..). So - nah, SS is actually creme de la creme...
It would - and the fun thing is that Bute is not faster than Martinez, is less active, and has much shorter reach than Martinez... so Pavlik will have a better chance at getting his jab going. :good
The thread starter has a point. Before the super six began, Dirrell was not even in the top 10. After a defeat, he was in! Abraham had no fight in the division. Froch and Kessler had a very good resume. Taylor was already shot, winning a single fight in the category (Lacy). Ward had a win against Miranda. End of his resume. Showtime did a great promotion job to convince fans the tournament was made with the 6 best SMW. Bute, Andrade and Bika were ranked higher at the time than many of the super six fighters. Now, the fact they fight each other is good fo their ranking. They all face good opposition. But we need not to forget from where they started. For example, Abraham was new in the category. He won against a shot Taylor and lost against Dirrell. Where does that place him? Top 6? Why? If you can justify his actual ranking, please do so. The loser of Froch-Abraham will have 2 defeats. Will you put them in the top 5 with 2 losses in their 3 fights? You should not. A defeat should put you behind in the rankings but for some reason that logic doesn't seem to work in the SMW division. Some fans give to the super six fighters the 6 first places of the category. I don't agree. Of course, anyone knows who is my favourite fighter...
Every fighter in the tourney is better than every single fighter Bute has faced to this point. Considering Bute is a titlist I consider that a pretty good lineup. I'm critical of Bute but admit he would have been a better choice for the tourney than either Taylor or Green but if they only got 5 out of 6 correct that is pretty good.
Exactly, they have 5 out of the top 6 in the division, and theyre all facing each other. I think when guys get a few loses, people start to pick them apart and say they were never any good. When the best have to face each other, top boxers will get loses, that doesn't mean they're not still top boxers
They will all be overrated or underrated at some point in the tourney. The question is how can you rate anyone outside the super 6 above the guys in it?
Abraham has a decent list of opposition at Middleweight to start with. Not big names, but good fights.
I don't think they're over-rated, but they do get a hell of a lot of exposure and discussion, especially when you consider a lot of people had never heard of, or knew very little about, Ward and Dirrell. Froch had only just started fighting in the states and wasn't hugely known. Abraham was moving up from a lower division and again was barely known stateside, and so on and so forth. It's done wonders for their PR and their bank accounts, and is good for the sport to put the best in there with each other. I think all the exposure, matchups, fights we've had, publications, threads etc all come mean that there's a lot of opinions going about, and a lot of people arguing about matchups, results etc, which polarises a lot of people, and leads to a lot of subjective talk. I wouldn't say they're getting any more over-rated than any other big fighter in the run up to a fight.
Good fights maybe but what big names or names that are genuine world class MWs. Miranda was a good win for AA beating an undefeated fighter, but Miranda had about 5 points deducted, also Miranda has been beaten most of the times hes stepped up in class
pavlik is one dimensional, and will suffer badly when he moves up fighting guys nearer his own size. if pavlik was in the super six, he would have to retire. you do know that the super six did contact pavlik to go into the tournament, and all pavlik did was mock them.. you know the real reason why though, don't you? it's because even he knows he's not good enough. you're on the wagon, and it's only going one way, and that's down hill.
Ward and Dirrell almost made my head explode! I thought they were both going to get eaten alive, and I certainly was not alone in that assesment.
