Ok, can you please explain a little bit what you mean, about Bute beating Kessler and Froch maybe? If that so, I realy think so, I was'nt so sure one year ago, in fact I would have pick Kessler over Bute.

Thanks laffie, I think you put your finger on one of the question I had. I know that a fighter cannot be first by fighting only subpar oposition, but as you said, when you loose, it's not suppose to put you before others. But at the same time, as it was said over and over, some fighters (Bute for exemple) will have to fight these guys if he want one day to be recognize as the best SMW.

I think you got a point too, but at the same time, what is the meaning of "overated" or "underated"? Correct me if I'm wrong but I think it's exactly what your talking about. A lot of exposure (before the tournament at least) for a lot of none tested fighters. But for sure after 2 years of fighting among the best fighters in the division (even if before the tournement they werent the best 6) will put them on top. So is it, that they were overated (overexposed by the media) in the begining but now the best are rising from that? I think it's a good question.

Since Lucian Bute is in the SMW division it's understandable he is talk about and compare with the super6, but it wasnt realy a thread about him.

    What?

You have tried to interject Bute into a conversation about the most accomplished 168ers in the world. Bute, whose best wins are against Andrade and Miranda.

No one is saying that any of the six should be top 3 PfP, I don't think, only that the tournament is delivering big-time matchups and that someone may emerge as a legitimate PfP contender.

    Overrated? Nope.

Let me put it this way, If Bute were in the tournament he would not be a favorite to win it nor, would expect him him to win it. Therefore I do not beleive the tourney is in any way overrated. The fight everyone will demand after the tourney, is Bute Vs the S6 winner. . This is natural since Bute will be a "last man standing in the division". I doubt Bute's people will allow their guy anywhere near Ward or Dirrell and they will choose to fight a castoff from the tourney. Bute matches up much better with Froch or possibly Kessler(if he looks shop worn by the end of the S6). I expect they will put Bute in with one of these guys, pull out a close one, and then feel they have done enough to prove they are as good as the tourney.

For me, Abraham, Froch, Kessler and Green are pretty sure wins for Bute. Ward and Dirrell represent a challenge for him, as he represents a challenge for them too. The Dirrell-Ward fight will show us what both fighters look like against a fast opponent. We'll have to wait for a Bute-Dirrell or Bute-Ward fight. If Dirrell loses against Ward, he will be out of the super six and that would be a great fight for Bute. Don't worry, Bute will face the other best of the division. Tim will come.

The strength of the tournament is that every of the 6 boxers fans push for all of the six, because that helps their favourite. If you're a Froch fan, you put Dirrell very high in the rankings because that places Froch, who "won" against him, higher. You repeat that with every single fighter and that gives you people sure that the 6 are the 6 best. Even if they lose, they climb the rankings! Result: Abraham, for example, has one win, against a very shot Taylor, and one loss, and plenty of poor opposition at MW, and is ranked in the top 5 at SMW. Why? He doesn't earn that spot. Logically, he should not be so high. But it's Showtime 6 best boxers... If Froch loses against Kessler, that will be his second loss, with one very close win, but I bet he will still be top 5.
