To be fair, COVID probably robbed this era of it's biggest prime fights. However, nobody came out of COVID lockdown raring to fight, they all got lazy and happy to fight once a year in meaningless matches.

People have short memories, the era of Fury, Usyk, Joshua, Wilder etc was actually a pretty damn entertaining era for heavyweight fights.

We had AJ/Wlad which was a thriller, same with the Fury/Wilder fight, the following fights were drama filled too with Fury shocking the world in the rematch and then showing up with two damaged elbows and at probably 50% and still putting a beat down on Wilder.

We also had the shocking loss of Joshua to Ruiz where Ruiz had to get up off the canvas to beat AJ. Joshua/Povetkin was pretty fun too. And who didn't enjoy watching the shadow of Povetkin laying out Whyte with that sweet uppercut. Joyce for all his flaws is pretty entertaining as he tries to walk through punches to land his own.

Yes this last year has sucked, but one year does not define an era. If the proposed Fury/Uysk and Joshua/Wilder fight happens at the end of the year then that would make up for it.
