No they are not any good that`s why they don`t win at the olympics anymore, a boxer/MMA trainer said on a youtube vid that he has stopped trained American heavyweight boxers because they don`t listen to him because they all want to be like Tyson and go straight for the KO, they don`t understand that it takes more than power to be a heavyweight champ.
Apparently Tyrone Stapledon, the son of famed prison fighter Rakim Oaks, is quite promising. Trouble is he's already been in and out of stir a couple times already, so may be destined for the same life as his old man. Be a real shame if that was the case. Also, as mentioned, Awesome is pretty damned good.
No chance lol... I always strongly disliked him for some reason. Wish him the best but he's just not cut for the pro leagues imo
I guess the question should be asked why US Heavyweight amateurs are not as good as they once were, and put measures in the remedy that. Many reasons we hear thrown around from, there are more sports their talents can be developed in (a lot less painful too), through to there basically is not at present the tradition of there being winning heavyweight role models in amateurs or to a degree in pro ranks in the US to emulate. Once Heavyweight boxing became much less US centric the dynamics changed it appears.
Cam F Awesome, Torrez, Antonio Mireles and Malik Titus are your best amateurs with the likes of Jarred Anderson and Sonny Conto turning pro in the last 12 months. I rate Jarred Anderson quite highly.
