I am interested in seeing how long Vitali continues his career. I know years back, he seemed to imply that mid 30s was the due date, now that he's come out of retirement and is mowing down these top contenders, he seems as if he's wanting to defend his title as long as possible, I think was how he put it. I hope he continues fighting for some time, cause he is showing no signs of slowing nor aging, yet. So why not keep building his career? The likes of Arreola, Johnson, Peter, Gomez, and whomever else they are putting in front of him are merely racked up wins that he has little problems with. They are merely showcases for his dominance. I can see him fighting and still beating everyong he faces, even to age 40, seeing as how that's only about 1.5 years away and he's still so sharp and effective. This content is protected
Vitali also got beat by Lewis because he couldnt handle the pressure. Both brothers gave way due to the pressure and them not being equipped to deal with it only Vitali has a better chin.
I think that having 2 brothers at the top is a bad thing too. I completely understand brothers not fighting each other, but at the same time, credit can not be given because of it. Fighting the No 3 guy is not the same as fighting the No. 2 guy. That's just the way it is. Both Klitschkos are very good fighters, but they also both hurt each other because they can't fight the other tough guy on the block. While I think Vitali is the stronger of the two, I think Wlad would have had a better career if Vitali never came back. It would leave Wlad as the clear No. 1 heavyweight. With his brother around, he's the heavyweight with the best resume, but with a guy hanging around that could beat him, but he can't fight. The only people who seem to like having co-champs are the co-champs themselves. But if they are co-champs, then you gotta throw in the other co-champ as just as valid as they are. None of the title holders in the division have beaten the best opponent possible (that being someone named Klitschko)
Axel Schultz was completely robbed against Foreman, he won that fight easily. Other than that, good post.
Ridiculous statement that shows you're bias as well as your lack of knowing what the **** you're talking about.
The avenging losses thing is not a big deal. Most fighters don't avenge losses. Lennox Lewis did, but that's just how cool Lennox was. A few others did to, but it's not the norm.
You're grasping here dude, Wladimir couldn't have continued the first fight with brewster no matter how much he would've wanted he was totally gassed in that fight. Vitaly would never have given up against Lewis if they'd let him continue with his cut the diffrence is huge no?
Lewis was the aggressor from the opening bell was he not? Vitali was having a hard time dealing with Lewis after four rounds wouldnt you agree? He started getting hit alot more and often and his ability to keep the fight at his range was changing very quickly as evident by the amount of punches he was taking before the fight had to be stopped.
:good Your bang on here Tommy. Wlad got ko'd x2. Vitali got stopped due to a horrific eye injury and a shoulder injury (In a fight he was clearly winning, and by a significant margin).
True, Lewis was exceptional in that regard. Wladimir wanted a rematch with Sanders but he wanted to fight for the WBC instead.
No disrespect Salty, but I do not agree with you. As a Lewis fan I was very confident pre Lennox-Vitali. And Vitali give Lewis all kinds of trouble, right until the fight was stopped. And even though imo Lennox was beginning to take over, Klitschko showed great heart in that fight. He took some tremendous blows and suffered an appalling eye injury. I can't question his character or his ability to handle the pressure since he has already proved his substance.
Not true at all, I disagree on all counts. Vitali met Lewis in the center of the ring and countered & beat him to the punch. When they both landed, Vitali got the better of most of the exchanges. Then Lewis threw a big right & VK moved his head back so the punch grazed off the eye socket area causing the huge cut. Lewis then continued to aim for the cut as any good fighter would do. In the end both fighters looked a bit spent heading back to their stools where the doctor declared Vitali's cuts too extensive for him to continue.
Wladmir was gassed from the pressure of Brewster wasnt he? Wlad lost to Sanders because Sanders pressured him and landed a big shot only earlier in the fight. Purrity beat Wladmir because Wlad was tired and could no longer sustain control of the fight and folded under Purritys pressure correct? There's a pattern there dont you think? I dont know too many fighters who get as much credit for fighting half of a good fight? What dont we just say Wlad would have never given up if he wasnt knocked down three times and the fight stopped?? As far as Vitali same basic scenario, the cuts on Vitali face were caused by punches by Lewis as he started to get closer to Vitali from the pressure he was bringing correct? Vitali fought well for three or four rounds but that doesnt change the fact that he started to wilt and get cut up. Vitali had success early but Lewis started to come on strong, closing the gap and taking away Vitali's safety zone which is boxing from the outside. Once that was closed the fight swung in Lewis favor quickly wouldnt you agree? In no way are we talking about an accidental headbutt that changed the course of the fight. The cut was caused from Lewis making the fight very physical and ulitmately getting close enough to Vitali to hurt him badly with big power shots. I dont see too much difference getting knocked down three times or getting stopped because your opponent did so much damage to your face by landing punches do you?
