That's true however is he really retired?
It's impossible to claim he's the best when he didn't go anywhere near the two best in Usyk and Joshua.
So for me there's more questions than answers.
You can't say that he would beat both as we just don't know. It's not on what someone could do it's what someone has actually done.
Woulda. coulda. shoulda means nothing.

 

This era has good boxers, but in previous eras the best fights happened more often, probably the problem is because many promoters are stingy...

We have a great LHW era in recent years, and a phenomenal CW 2018 generation.

 

Yet ufc is trash.

 

AJ was too busy getting bashed up by the Pilsbury Dough boy, it's obvious he wouldn't beat Fury in a month of Sundays. Usyk would've been interesting but there's always one more fight, everyone has to retire sometime.

 

We don't know though because those fights never happened. I think Fury would come back for a fight with AJ especially if he somehow beats Usyk (I suspect a robbery if he's not stopped) The fact he lost to pudding is a false equivalence because it's a different fighter and he clearly won the rematch. Fury could have fought AJ at another time if he wanted just like Wilder but both let the career payday slip through their fingers. I prefer Fury to AJ but at least AJ tried fighting everybody and still has the deeper resume than the other two. Wilder's resume for a 5 year belt holder is appalling.

 

The resume of pretty much everyone Ali beat was appealing, yet he is regarded as the greatest for some reason.
