Yeah well, provided Fury doesn't uppercut himself into a KO, he may have a chance against someone like Henry Cooper.......MAY have a chance.

My ranking criteria is to demonstrate that guys from the past were very beatable as was demonstrated by their losses to bums or fighters that lost to bums. Fury has never been beaten, so no one can decisively comment as to his vulnerabilities as he has always won.

    What are you talking about?

    Every guy is beatable.

Who has said that the HW’s of the 70’s were unbeatable?

    Nobody has said that.

Ali is considered by many as the HW GOAT, based upon his incredible skill set in his prime, as well as his resume and his achievements.

Tyson is a great fighter, and yes, he’s unbeaten. But again, even his biggest fans acknowledge that he should have lost to John McDermott.

Yes, Tyson has always officially won, but he has shown that he has vulnerabilities and certain stylistic weaknesses, just like any other guy from history.

I don’t mind you rating him so highly.

However, there’s 2 factors to address:

    1. Again, if you use the criteria that you have used for Ali, then there’s no way that you can rate him as highly as you do.

    2. You’d have to very ignorant if you think that Tyson could beat everyone in history, and that he would never have faced a tough stylistic match up.

Loads of people on this thread are acting like the fighters of decades past would wipe the floor with all the fighters of today.
Any speculation as to Fury losing to anyone is just that - speculation. This is because he has never been beaten.
My argument is that all the guys of the past barring Marciano have been beaten by bums or guys that have lost to bums.
Their ability to be beaten is 100% proven, yet somehow the unbeaten 6"9 Fury who always finds a way to win would have no chance against any of them. It's just laughable.

I gotta admit you're right, that was a hell of an uppercut Fury hit himself with, but he took it well.

    No.

Any great fighter could beat any other great fighter at their respective weight class, simply based on how they matched up on the night stylistically.

Of course not all of the greats of the past could have beaten all the guys of today.

Likewise, not all the guys of today could have beaten all of the greats of the past.

Yes, Tyson has always prevailed. But at the same time, he’s beaten no great fighters whilst they were prime, and there’s actual evidence of him having struggled with certain styles.

However, with his size, confidence, skills and unique style, he’d have been problematic to any HW in history.

Who has said that he wouldn’t have been able to have beaten any great of the past?

I’ve not seen anybody say that.

If someone has said that, then that’s obviously terribly ignorant.

It's not laughable to me, it's actually sad to see the drop in quality boxing, particularly in the HW division. I was being tongue in cheek about Fury having no chance against Cooper, Tyson at his best would be an awkward night for a lot of the old guys.

I am really disappointed overall with boxing atm. There are some quality guys out there and a few that are outstanding, but they don't fight each other & they just don't fight ENOUGH dammit!
