Are there any fighters in history you think could beat a prime Roy Jones?

Only guys I can think of that can really give a prime Jones absolute trouble would be Gerald McClellan, Ezzard Charles, and Michael Spinks.
McClellan for his killer instinct and aggression, Charles for his superb craft and willingness to go to war, and Spinks for his awkwardness

I think Nigel Benn was capable of upsetting anyone on any given night. He had a level of aggression you don't often see even in combat sports. He was also incredibly heavy handed which means he can't be ruled out against Roy.

I m not sure of any on Roy's best night. Roy really was incredible. Was head and shoulders above the rest...to the point even guys like toney, Hopkins didn't know what to do with him. He,d have lost calzaghe. Calzaghe was good at what he done and he was incredibly effective...but he was no master boxer.

How do you even stick anyone in with a game plan against Jones. He could hit you from practically anywhere. You couldn,t close the gap quick enough before he,d hit you. It was surreal to watch at times. I still say he was naturally a good bit better than mayweather. Mayweather just worked so hard and had a style hard to beat more than being as naturally gifted as Roy. He was on the freak of nature spectrum alongside Ali. Done things that shouldn,t have even been possible in a ring.

he ruled himself out against roy by not crossing the pond. there were a LOT of European fighters who didn't cross the pond in and around MW to LHW so they wouldn't have to face roy jones or Bernard Hopkins
you can't then turn around and say that these guys could have been effective against fighters they wanted no part of

I'm talking purely from a hypothetical standpoint - if the fight happened then I think a hyper aggressive banger like Benn has a chance at upsetting Roy. That's not an insult to Jones who I would favour to win just my opinion. And I can't be bothered to go into the politics of Jones various reigns but he was perfectly happy facing overmatched contenders for a large portion of his or prime so let's not pretend it was all every one else just not wanting to fight him - it was clearly a mixture of things.

it was a "mixture" of fighters who were happy milking paper belts in Europe - there's no other way to sugar-coat it
of course it's an insult to jones to say, 'fighter x had no intention of making the fight happen, but I think he could've beaten the best fighter of his generation'

Speak to @Loudon. He loves himself some Roy but is happy to concede that Roy didn't always seek to push himself in his pomp.

Saying that an aggressive two fisted puncher who previously overcame the odds over a very highly rated fighter in McCellan has absolutely no chance against RJJ and claiming that is offensive to Jones to suggest that he'd have a chance as an underdog is laughable.

There are ways to neutralize his speed advantage. Michael Spinks or Bob Foster might be able to do it with their height and reach. Ezzard Charles or Archie Moore might time him. Maybe, you fight the whole match on the backfoot giving Roy just a little more distance to cover every time. Maybe, you throw a hale of combinations like Harry Greb, or possibly you could feint him.

I know this sounds crazy but I really would have liked to see him against a prime Benn and Eubank.

I think Benn could pose some problems with his ferocity and power.
