.. they just don't know how to stop winning? A fighter who's just seems average in every aspect of their skill yet they always just seem to know how to put it together and continuously win? I'll go first to give you all an example of what I mean.. I choose Carlos Monzon. I remember when I first heard about this guy and how great he was, yet.. when I got around to actually seeing him fight, it left me just kind've scratching my head. He was far from what I'd expected an ATG of his sature to look like.. let alone a #1 ATG in the eyes of many who follow the middleweight division. And even to this day, I can't figure out why this guy was as great as he was, he just knew what to do with the skill he possessed.
This is a good question. It might seem strange, but I thought of Jermaine Taylor, particularly in his last few fights. He hasn't shown great power, good workrate, strong defense, or anything else particularly impressive. He's done just enough to win (at least in the eyes of the judges) and hasn't looked very strong in doing it.
Calvin Brock. Brock is "alright" in every category, but through extremely solid fundamentals and close attention to the game, he has become a force at HW. I am still shocked when I watch his fight with Wlad at how well he did early on. He never hurt Wlad but had him perplexed for the better part of the fight.
yeah i agree with brock and taylor being winners but they are just missing that little something. i dunno what it is. extra speed, or power or whatever but they are successful. well brock lost to wladimir but did steal a round or two and seemed to lull wladimir into his gameplan some how.
Valuev is also another, glad he lost to be honest,i dont hate him,he seems a decent man,but boy is he one boring fighter to watch,i just think hes so damn big, most people gass out against him,and his leaning and pushing on them, wears them down before he drops them.
Yeah, Taylor's a good pick. I mean, even if people think he lost his fights with Hopkins and Wright those fights were still very close, and it looks like he manages it with the most average of skills that a fighter could possibly have.
