Are there any Heavyweights that could beat Riddick Bowe on the inside?

I've always liked Povetkin on the inside. He's got better skills and better defence than Bowe. Would that make up for Bowe's size advantage? I think so but I know people here will complain about this opinion.

 

There is nobody better imo. The way he could shorten up his hooks was beautiful. Poor Jesse Ferguson...

 

Povetkin is nowhere near as skilled as Riddick Bowe. This is a strange take.

Riddick Bowe was even credited as more skilled than Lennox Lewis by Manny Stewart. Yes - Riddick Bowe was a big fighter, but what people don't realise is how skilled he was.

 

So skilled he got beaten to pulp before the age of 30 despite deftly avoiding the biggest punchers in the division.

All his inside work cost him in the long run. But why use a 82" reach and a stellar jab?

 

That is an opinion, and a wrong one at that.

Bowe’s inside game had some questionable moments.

He seemed surprisingly incapable of dealing with Golota, all because Golota would simply pivot and position himself away from his uppercut. Bert Cooper was able to push him back and made him seem awful up close, as the power of his punches made Bowe too tentative up close. His claim to fame is beating Holyfield on the inside, but honestly, I rewatched Holyfield vs Holmes recently and Holyfield seemed more outmatched on the inside against the old man in the early rounds.

I wouldn’t be confident on him against a powerful in-fighter that knows how to position himself intelligently.

 

Bowe was never on the level to get in the way of prime Frazier, not even close

commitment , dedication , mental approach to living the life of a professional athlete. These factors cost him in the long run.
A prime can be taken away overnight. Plenty examples.
Plenty of examples of guys done and who should have been done around the age of 30.

Thread question - Lewis , Mike and Fury have the best chance competitively. Pov gets shattered.

Coetzer, the very definition of a limited fighter both in the sense of skill and physical assets, a fighter correctly described by Ring Mag as "moribund", was giving Bowe fits until Bowe resorted to fouling.... But Povetkin, a guy who punched with efficiency, accuracy and imagination, and who had physical assets, a guy who had twitch and power... he is going to get "shattered".... Hah!
