I'm sure many of you remember back in 2011 before the Super Six final in New Jersey. Andre Ward sustains a huge gash right above his eyebrow in sparring for the fight and the fight was postponed. What is still a mystery and has never been explained is how did Andre Ward sustain that huge gash sparring with head gear on? He even said he had the best head gear and was sorry about it and eventually it went away after he won the Super Six and is almost forgotten. But I still wonder how does that happen in sparring?
You can still get cut with the best gear on. Most sparred sessions turn out to be much more serious than one would think. I'm assuming he got caught with a great elbow which can cause cuts. He's not the first or last boxer to get cut in sparring. It's either that or ward needed more time getting ready. Now that we know he can no longer make 168 it's possible he wasn't able to get down and still feel strong, more likely that's the case. It could've been when he used to get in those heated sparring sessions with khan, I heard khan was giving just as much as he was in receiving. We all thought that was bull**** but now we should think twice about since he's taking on a canelo that's going to possibly be out weighing him by about 5 lbs and as much as 10 lbs. He's fearless, can anyone believe khan is fight a 5'7" 170/75 lb bear. He's the goat of larger men
