Cyberboxingzone is still up but it isn't regularly maintained. They stopped adding new content and shut down their message boards years ago. Other than that, no. In the late 90s, there were a couple of paid records sites where you could view current boxers' records but retired fighters' records were behind a pay wall. Boxrec sort of ran them out of business. I try to print (or save jpegs of) as many records from boxrec as I can and try to keep them up to date when possible. Because, frankly, if Boxrec started charging a fee (like other sites used to 20 years ago) to have access to their records, we'd all be screwed. And they could do it any time if they chose. They are doing every boxing fan a GREAT service by working diligently to maintain accurate records and keep it free for basically anyone in the world to view. They certainly don't have to. That's why I try not to give them too hard a time about their ratings. (LOL)
I've thought about that too - what would happen if Boxrec started charging. They are certainly running a great service and shouldn't be taken for granted.
I remember the old Ring Record Book editions. Then there was another, way more thorough, that had records on current and past fighters worldwide. You could get the book every year but if you wanted a current record (to see what a fighter had done since the end of the previous year) you would pay a few bucks and they would fax it to you: FightFax. That’s what managers and commissioners used. That bunch sold to boxrec IIRC so it has the continuity from that database.
