Are there likely to be any more crossover fighting events such as the Mayweather and McGregor fight?

I thought Mayweather was going to dispose of McGregor almost at will. I think I was predicting 3rd or 4th round ko, out of respect and a cautionary fight plan. I was wrong.

I disagree with this notion that Mayweather took it easy on McGregor. I think many, including myself, did not fully understand the size difference until they were in the ring together. MMA fighters cut massive amounts of weight. There's history of boxers, like Gerald McClellan, cutting huge amounts; but it is not a prevalent in boxing. Mayweather weighed in at 149. I doubt he cut anything. Conor is known for being 170+ on fight night, even when fighting at 145. Now you have a 40 year old welterweight in the ring with a 29 year old light-heavyweight. Conor is not a world class boxer, but he is a world class athlete. And...Conor hits hard. McGregor does not have world class boxing precision, but he is a big man with a big punch when matched with a 40 year old welterweight.

Size matters. Shaquille O'Neal had a series where he competed against athletes from different sports, in the other athlete's respective sport. One episode had him in a boxing match against Oscar de la Hoya. It was a fun contest to watch, but it was fun only because of the size difference. Oscar appeared to pull his punches early, only to let them go later with little difference in damage. A larger boxer, 175+, would've probably ko'd Shaq in the same time frame. Shaq was literally twice De la Hoya's size. I realize it isn't apples to apples in the point I'm trying to make, but it shows how a large guy with virtually no fight experience can go against a much smaller fighter with world class talent.
