Are there NEW belts (the physical belt itself) for each champion?

Of course the belt itself is really secondary, it's the actual "title", the result of the fights that matter.

With that said, when a champion loses the belt, does he have to physically give that same belt to the new champion? Or does the WBC, WBO, etc...just provide the new champion with a belt of their own.

You always see fighters with their belts in trophy cases, etc...so I assume that each champion has their own set of belts....just checking.

He has to hand the belt over before the fight so the winner has somethign to hold aloft but if the belt has changed hands a new one is given to the winner.

If you go back and watch the Mayweather v Brussels ( i think) fight the fight is about to start and they have to hold off because the Mayweather camp hasnt handed the belt to a neutral party yet , not that they really needed to bother !

Yes, each champ gets his own belt to keep, which is part of the reason behind the sanctioning fees.

I've never heard of teams paying extra for the Stanley Cup, The Larry O'Brien Championship Trophy (and it's hand-crafted in sterling silver with a 24 karat gold overlay, made by Tiffany) , or anything else.

Just another scam by these organizations if you ask me.

In theory, if the Top 4-6 guys in a weight class wanted to ditch any belts they own, and just create their own "people's champ" belt, by fighting each other in an elimination tournament, who is to stop them? That's the only way I see at getting a true champion in many weight classes.

Of course the egos, politics and money involved would never let this happen, but I can dream can't I?

The players don't get to keep a Stanley Cup.

There's only ONE championship trophy in most of those sports - they only keep the trophy for the year that they're the champion. And you're a damn idiot if you don't think that each of the teams pays a hefty portion of their revenues to the league. Championship rings and the like are paid for by the owner of the team, and part of the reason they don't complain is because they get extra revenue for playing in the playoff games. Playoffs are almost pure profit for teams.

As for the ABCs, most of the sanctioning fees go towards infrastructure, but part of the reason you pay more fees for title fights is because they have to make the belt. A few of the ABCs are more corrupt than others in this regard (I'd guess that Suliaman's salary is 7 figures), but for the most part it's not like they're siphoning off money so that everyone with the organization can sleep in mattresses stuffed with dollar bills.

You really have no understanding of sports economics, do you?

Wow. No ****ing way any fighter should agree to that ****. The ABC's should hand the 400 dollar belt over, period.

I don't. I just don't think they're quite as evil as people make them out to be. They're just really inefficient and generally poorly run.
