you're taking this site and projecting it onto the general boxing community. bad move. lots of butthurt on this site against guys like marquez khan ward and love for guys like mayweather who are p4p but beat the shitt out of their girlfriends and aren't nearly the model I want my kids to look after society sucks ass these days
No, been to his fights a few times, as I used to be a fan. Lost huge amounts of respect for him in the last few years though.
Will always support the underdog. The amount he **** he gets on here, especially on the Brit forum is totally unwarranted. He's labelled as arrogant when he expresses ambition to test himself against the very best, ala Floyd. Name me a boxer who hasn't called out the best in his division or who has said that he doesn't feel confident in his abilities to win his next fight. When someone like Froch states he would have been a force in the Leonard, Hagler, Hearns era and beaten the lot or he has said that he has skills of Leanord and the power of Hearns he is called confident. Imagine if Khan came out with a statement like that.... The abuse he got after the PEDerson fight was over the top as well, we all know where Lamont got his relentless aggresion from now. On the other hand Froch after Kessler fight said the only reason he lost was because Mikel got a home town decision. If the fight had been in Nottingham then he would have won, the Cobra is an inadvertent master of irony..... Then there is Froch's revisionist version of the clinic Ward gave him in the final of the Super-Six. There was one very stupid hit & run incident when he was 21 and he was rightly slaughtered for it but the likes of Chisora (assaulting girlfriend), Valero (cocaine-fueled murder of his wife), Mayweather (domestic battery), Naseem Hamed (dangerous driving), Hopkins (robbery) et al. are all given a free pass. The kid does a hell of alot charity work, Oxfam, Save the Children, Great Ormond Street Hospital etc, his gym doubles up as community centre getting disadvantaged kids of the streets and the opportunity to constructively channel their energies. It appears to me that Khan is judged by a different standard to most boxers, some of the criticism is maybe warranted but most of it is motivated by race or petty jealousy. Muslims, ever since 9/11 have been demonised over the past decade in western society through the press with the tacit approval of our governments. Sadly, social attitudes have been conditioned to treat all muslims (especially of arab, ****stani origin) as extremists or worse as potential suicide bombers. I say this as a mixed-race Catholic.
