Yes Seamus, I think your right, as I said, I read many years ago that there was a reason outside of love for Judaism but could not quite remember what, as stated, he was raised non-sectarian.

I always liked how Foreman wore the same trunks when he regained the title from Moorer that he wore when he fought Frazier and Ali 20 years earlier. Pretty cool

Just the Fitz fight? He wore that for the 2nd Jeff fight and the Thomas Edsion film. I not sure if he wore it for any other fight. But what guts to just walk in to a fight crowd in a thong.

Bump... Probably a boring subject, but for some reason I've always been fascinated with this and thought as a kid what color trunks I'd wear when I turned pro (which, probably for the best, never happened).

Some guys seemed to get a new pair, new colors, for every fight. Do they save their fight-worn gear in some sort of collection?

Hagler seemed to wear the same trunks for several fights in a row, then would get a new pair and wear those for several fights.

Holmes, after beating Norton, would wear white with red except sometimes when he'd fight guys he was so far superior to, when he'd go with red and white.

Tyson seemed to settle on the all black right before the Berbick fight. Before that it was white, red and blue or white and green Adidas trunks, but sometimes black or dark blue. One time he wore baby blue trunks.

How do fighters decide what colors, or brands, to wear? I'm sure with brands there's some advertising money involved. But colors...

There’s an era where the top heavyweights all wore Pony trunks (and shoes I think). Usually white with a blue or red “stripe” that was actually IIRC a series of arrowheads pointing upwards.

Oddly, Thomas Hearns did not wear Kronk gold in the first Leonard fight nor Pipino Cuevas (white with red, gold and either black or blue striping, can’t tell).

In fact, he didn’t wear the Kronk gold against Randy Shields in his title defense nor against Angel Espada. I’m having trouble finding an image of when he first did wear what we consider to be classic Kronk apparel.

Honeyghan wearing sequined shorts (quite often black, but pink when he fought Curry).

Ali's black on white of course, Foreman's blue beltline w/ the red trunks; Pinklon Thomas' "pink" trunks.

I remember Duran wore the white shorts with the yellow streak down it in his second fight with Leonard.
