As unpopular as it will sound, I would replace Floyd with DLH or Hops!:deal

Ricky Hatton looked like turd against Collozo, in a fight that I and a lot of ringside observers felt he lost. Hatton lost a great deal of his effectiveness at 147lb, and the Collozo fight was indicative of that.

Oscar De La Hoya gave him a hell of a fight, it was a close fight. Mayweather righly won it, close but clear, but Oscar was past his prime. A good win, not a GREAT win. :good

Hopkins on the other hand dominated Tito Trinidad, who had just absolutely destroyed William Joppy at 160lb. The claims Tito lost because Hopkins was too big is rubbish for me. He lost because Hopkins defensive abilities rendered Tito's offense useless, and Trinidad showed he culd be outboxed at 147 against Oscar. Hopkins was expected to get knocked out, but he won..in dominating fashion.

As for the Kelly Pavlik fight, what more can you say than wow? I was one of the few here to predict Hopkins winning that fight easily, but it was an old man going up against the next young superstar, and he put on a clinic.

I haven't even mentioned Hopkins title reign at 160lb, and his other wins against Tarver, Oscar, and Winky.

Hopkins should go down as greater than Mayweather at this point, he just has the better resume..the only true way you can measure a fighters worth.

agree, but hopkins was also a 4-1 underdog in the pavlik fight....longetivity wise, PBF start as champ in 1998 and retired 10 years later...hopkins world class status is twice as long as PBF

lewis is top 3-5 at the very least HW head to head...and pacquiao comes all the way from being a fyweight lineal champ.

had de la hoya dominated mosley in their second fight, he could make a case of being at the same level as PBF and Lennox...but he failed to stamp his dominance over fellow ATG

De La Hoya has no business in this thread, but he did outbox prime Trinidad at 147lb for 8 rounds.

Oscar just lost to a man about 3 weights too small for him, there is no coming back from that one, he should never be mentioned in these `best of` type discussions again IMO + Mayweather beat the bigger DLH at DLHs most comfortable weight, 154 so yet again, he`s out on his ear.

Ps. Mayweather would outbox Hopkins in the same weight class (but lets not get deep into that, just my opinion)

but you have to gve it to dela hoya, he was a 4 year p4p king and that is an impressive accomplishment. something that sweet pea and jcc never accomplished...the mosley fights ruined his ATG ranking

This is the mentality of all the Floyd fans. The only way they can back up their claims of Floyd being so great is with speculation.

All I know is, looking at both fighters resume, Hopkins wins on longevity and resume. He is the man, Floyd has some work to do. He has no excuses either. 147lb is stacked, he should go do his business against those fights instead of a ****ing Super Featherweight in Marquez. :patsch

I actually had DLH a clear winner over SSM in fight 2 but as selfkill said, he still doesnt belong in this thread.

nobody questioned the ablity of PBF...i favor him to beat arguello at any weight and beat duran 140 and up...

but his resume doesn't match up well plus he doesnt have longetivity because he retired early much like hagler

I agree he should (& could IMO) clear out the WWT division but JMM aint no easy task after a 1 n 1/2 yr layoff.

Hopkins has fought some of the best fighters of his gen but he has also shown vulnerability & to me he is overrated a tad because he was blessed with great longevity (& a teriffic work ethic too), people mention him being the underdog in the Pavlik fight but I called it, I said Hopkins UD, tho he suprised me by HOW dominant he was in that fight.
The Tito & Tarver fights impressed me but Tarver aint never been a great boxer, he made his name by beating a past it RJJ & despite what some have said... Hopkins was the physically stronger man vs Trinidad.

Mayweather SHOULD do more with his talent but IMO he is still the best fighter since Chavez/Whitaker (& yes, I include Roy Jones in that too)
