Are these fighters that I should be studying for technique?

    I wouldn't study Khan's footwork tbh.

JMM and Hopkins are class acts.

Guys who do a lot with "Joe Average" proportions and Genghis Khan like strategy.

I actually like watching Khan on the mitts. During the fight, he looks sloppy, but he's not too bad when shadowboxing and doing mitt work

Really? What makes you say that?

    :good

I'm a big believer in just watching boxing as a whole and picking up little things and practising them yourself.

Glad to find another fan. He's one of my favourite fighters ever. Shame not many people have seen him. If he had started pro earlier and not been cought out during the transition period at the end of the Soviet Union he would have gone even further. There's actually a lot of stuff now on him on youtube which is awesome.

Here's a full list of fighters that I study regularly.
    Ricardo Lopez
    Juan Manuel Marquez
    Alexis Arguello
    Joe Louis
    Donald Curry
    Harold Johnson
    Bernard Hopkins

I'm trying to fight more in line with Lopez and Marquez but I study the other's technical abilities as well. You can see that all the fighters I listed all fight by the book and I think I'm capable of fighting like that. Do you think this is a good list of fighters to study from?

My favorites for study technique are Duran and Marlon Starling....For southpaws have a look at Vicente Saldivar...

Those are all excellent offensive minded fighters. Punching technique doesn't get any better than Joe Louis IMO. And the methodical stalk is brilliant as well. I would try and study other fighters to get an idea for your defense.

I think it's a good idea to never place yourself in a box. Don't ever think, oh this is my style and that's it, i don't need to watch anyone else. Keep an open mind and study the old school fighters. You might come across a fighter or even one fight that will change something in your approach and will make a huge difference.

i dont mean to hijack the thread, but personally i like the iron mike peek-a-boo style and i started studying his vids as soon as i got into boxing. however i realized that i tend to back out regularly after attacking, like i duck in throw a few combos then jump out a few second and jump back in, kinda like raiding. are there any boxers i can study to perfect this style?

This is difficult- but after spending 8-10 minutes racking my brains- have to say this is the single most ******ed thing anyone has ever written on eastside. Congratulations- you've outdone all the trailer park morons and Ylem in one post.

I've heard it all now. Arguably the greatest finisher- and one of the finest timers you'll ever see doesn't cut it for you? :good:good:goodYou should be banned from boxing, internet, and watching TV or talking to people.

Have a ****ing nice day. :hi:
