It would be a super fight, easily the biggest that could be made in MMA. It would be the Mayweather-Pacquaio of MMA.

There was some talk about it for a while but then it just seemed that GSP didn't want the fight. He was saying he'd need like a year to build muscle to effectively move up to that weight and not much has been said about it since. Looks like it's never gonna happen. Mind you it wasn't like Mayweather-Pacquaio were negotiations had been going on, it was mostly just talk and was a nice idea but it will never happen.

As for why Silva would win. I think he'd knock GSP head into the third row if they fought. GSP is a good wrestler but I think not that Silva has faced someone the calibre of Sonnen who is better at wrestling and much bigger than GSP he would be able to deal with GSPs wrestling much better. Not to mention that Silva himself is much bigger than GSP. He has fought at LHW before.

In the end I think GSP is unable to get Silva down and Silva is just so good on the feet that he either knocks GSP out or wins a UD.

Well maybe because he is scared off Jon Jones but I think it's just because there is no point. Its like just picking any fighter who cuts weight and say why don't they move up? Because he is comfortable fighting at MW and there are still guys to fight. Namely a rematch with Chael Sonnen.

Tim Sylvia is not an elite MMA fighter and he's definitely washed up in that fight.

I agree but thats not fair. Lesnar was huge and also had incredible wrestling, a national champion at heavyweight, in a division where the wrestling isnt the best. Only reason a WWE guy did any good.

Gotta be kidding me. James Toney is incredibly delusional, he was out of shape and out of his prime, that whole fight was an embarasment. A gift for Couture.

If Tim Sylvia was washed up than what about Ray Mercer who is a 50 year old retired boxer ?

Tim Sylvia is still fighting and he is a 3 time MMA Heavyweight Champion.
