How many times you have lost is irrelevant. It is all about who you have beaten.

A bit of both. You have to actually look at the resume in order to determine if it is impressive or overrated.

Don't even bring the mma bull**** in this thread. Those guys have some of the shittiest records ever.

Incredibly overrated. Ottke and Lopez(well much more proven than him) lack names. Rather go out like a Holy or DLH with a loaded resume than be scared to test myself anyday. Look at Ali. His resume is so damn deep that along with his wins and performances he has a case to be GOAT.

As far as Marciano, he cleaned his era so I think he needs to be cut a little slack.

It all depends on the resume.

If you face top comp, goin unbeaten is great. If you ain't fought nobody, your unbeaten record means jack ****.

I'd rather be Broner than Demarcus Corley or Emanuel Augustus

If the person has a record or fights against good fighters in their prime sure its great but virtually every undefeated fighter is just a guy dodging top competitors, be it mayweather (who has about 5-8 more fighters to beat including pac, martinez, canelo, bailey, etc.

To me sugar ray leonard is about 100 times better than mayweather for the obvious reason he didn't spend his whole career dodging the best. Leonad, duran, hagler, hearns, will always be the best welterweights since post 70's and pac might make the cut. Am I suppose to be impressed by fighters who beat up old guys and tomatoes?

undefeated usually means good hand picking. It all depends on quality of opposition.

Unless you put absolutely ZERO stock in defeats or close/poor performance victories, being undefeated with a resume equal to one who took losses, being undefeated is obviously better than being defeated.

Opponents mean everything. Who they were and at what point in their careers. Sorry, but I don't think more of Roy Jones' resume or legacy for having fought Danny Green, which is the opinion most of the posters seem to hold in this thread.

Maybe the new gen of fans would know who he is, respect him more, and rate him higher all time if he had a couple random knockout defeats to some of his opponents rather than decisive victories.

I guess so :conf his perfect record helps adds to his galore as a near perfect fighter imo to go along with his great technique. I guess there's nothing impressive about what he did and never having a slip up or a bad night along the way

Sugar Ray Robinson lost 19 times Sven Ottke didn't lose any, ask your neighbour which one of those two boxers he has heard of. Overrated.
