this is the only post you need ever read about the career of bernard hopkins. the following is irrefutable scientific fact

here is bernard hopkins best 6 wins broken down, take away the smoke and mirrors, the hbo and ring magzaine brainwashing and this is what your left with

    trinidad
    prime weight = welterweight (147)
fought hopkins at middleweight (159)
trinidads record at middleweight or above from hopkins onwards = 2 wins / 3 defeats

    winky wright
prime weight - light middleweight (154)
fought hopkins at - 170 lbs
in 57 fights, the hopkins fight was the only fight that wright had weighed over 160 lbs (a full 10lbs difference) :rofl

    de la hoya
    prime weight - welterweight (147lbs)
fought hopkins at - middleweight (160lbs)
de la hoya only fought twice in his career at middleweight out of 45 fights -1 win / 1 loss - the win was a very debatable decision over eurobum felix sturm

    pavlik
prime weight - middleweight (160 lbs)
fought hopkins at - 170 lbs
in 34 fights pavlik had only fought 2 minnions at the beginning of his career at 169. all pavliks fights since hopkins have been at the 160 limit.

    tarver
    prime weight 175
great 2 weight jump from hopkins and his best win despite tarver being a b-level fighter and going 3 wins / 3 losses from hopkins onwards.

    johnson
prime weight -super mid / light heavy (162 to 175)
fought hopkins at - middleweight (160)
    johnsons record at 160 + from hopkins onwards - 19 wins / 14 defeats / 2 draws
the defeats have come against people of the level of ottke, woods, shieka, gonzales, harmon, branco, vanderpool, Kiwanuka, sosa :rofl

then throw in hopkins 4 defeats to the only top class fighters he ever fought at a fair weight (jones, calzaghe, and taylor twice) and you get a true reflection of the career of bernard hopkins

"A teleconference was set up in my office in New York for July 30th, 2002, and on the call was myself, Don King who was in the room, Frank Warren and Bernard Hopkins' lawyer, Arnold Joseph. Along with Arnold was a woman named Linda Carter, who was there on behalf of Bernard. We asked Arnold if Bernard wanted to fight Joe Calzaghe and we asked him how much money would he want if he did. The response we got was $3million and the fight would have to take place in the United States. After a little scratching of the head, we said 'Okay, done.' Frank Warren agreed on the spot, Don King agreed and we agreed so as far as we were concerned all parties were singing off the one hymm sheet. Arnold excused himself with Linda and I can only assume it was to call Bernard. Either that day or the next day, they came with a new demand: $6million, double the sum that had been agreed, the deal blew up.....he had then and still has no desire to fight Joe Calzaghe, that much is pretty clear.

Joe gets criticised sometimes for not having fought the big-name Americans, but in this case the fault has never rested with him."

    - Jay Larkin, then Showtime TV Network's Senior Vice-President of Sports and Event Programming.

And they both scored for Calzaghe you fool :patsch. Commentators call things different as rounds pass and change dumbass, so if they were making that same comment every round they wouldnt have finished with Joe agead now, would they :nut.
You have to live with the facts. Calzaghe beat Hopkins, live with it and move on

More irrelivant **** u didnt watch the fight your merely one of the pro calzaghe ppl who were in the crowd who hate bernards style of winning fights. Again headbanger talking in circles we already dismissed all your bull**** already. You have a very short attention span. Calzaghe didnt become known in america till 06-07 YOU need to live with that calzaghe hadnt done a damn thing to deserve a shot at hopkins and roy jones in early 2000s when they were negotiating to fight eachother. Ofcourse Bernards gonna want the more money he was negotiating with Roy in that time period your stipulation of roy and hopkins ducking calzaghe is weak as **** cal hadnt even come over to america tof ight ne of the compeition there he was only known in the uk so ofcourse hopkins is gonna go for roy whose in his country and was biggest name in boxing. Calzaghe wasnt roy jones jr.

Nobody was scared of calzaghe lol

You guys dont appear to understand so ill give u some examples. Ricky Hatton CAME OVER TO AMERICA beat urango castilo ect all america had to offer there he got a shot against Mayweather. Lennox Lewis CAME TO AMERICA fought best they had and got number one contendership to fight bowe now bowe ducked him. Point being uk isnt the mainplace for boxing America is whether u like it or not if u wanna be known and fight the best u have to come over to america he wasnt even in roy and bernards weight classes and had not come over to america nobody knew the guy nobody even knows of him now lol they just know of him as the guy who had a close fight with an oldman.

There was alot of talk back then about Roy never being the same after dropping off the 24lbs (or whateve rit was) of muscle to fight Tarver. He definitely never was the same but more than likely it was just b/c his physical gifts began to diminish. However I remember a friend of mine back then making a funny prediction and kinda just putting it here for pure entertainment value. From what I remember Tarver was generally seen as going to handle Bernard. But not too long before that fight Tarver had beefed up to over 200lbs to play his character in the Rocky Balboa movie. I remember my friend who was a huge RJJ fan saying "now Tarver's going to find out what its like to have to drop all that muscle, Hopkins will kill him".

not sure if it was officially a catchweight. according to boxrec though Hopkins weighed 156 and DLH 155.
