    becqause generally we are :good

you will very rarely find someone who has boxed hating on boxers, calling them bums etc it is always the armchair warriors who slag off people like bellew on here.

obviously there are exceptions and there are some good fans who have never boxed. but i gurantee the nob heads on here have never boxed.

and if you have trained foir a while and been hurt by a body shot but still have to survive for a 90 seconds in the round. or sparred someone a lot better than you who is beaing you up, it gives an insight into what i going on in the ring. in my opinion of course.

everyone thinks they can do alright at boxing and throw a good punch. purely from watching boxing on tv and they think it looks relatively easy. if every boxing fan went to a gym trained and had to spar for a couple of rounds just once the fans would be a lot more educated and boxing would thrive a little as people would realise how difficult it is.

I was the poster above, that's how i read it mate.

I'm not assed about boxing as a whole anymore. I mainly support individuals within the sport, who are flamboyant and pragmatic. I don't go around spouting boxing facts..? whatever the **** they are..?

    Goodnight.

I used to box at earlsfield when i was 17 to 18 had 4 fights and a couple of exhibitions, won 2 lost 2. I started at the wrong age really, all my mate were going out and i was dieting and running. Fancied starting up again and had a couple of unlicenced fights which i won. Really wished i kept at it properley from when i was 17. That said i still train down there and really enjoy pads and sparring, anybody who hasnt been to a boxing gym should try it, and all the people saying about flat noses and that sort of stuff i would say i got more injuries playing footy then boxing. You wont get hurt an awful lot as an amateur anyway, more about speed and skill then bashing the **** out of you. Overall i would say its a very nice feeling winning a fight unlike team sports because its just you, great sport and great people who are involved in running these clubs!

I did kickboxing for a couple of years im my early teens 12-15 started watching boxing about age 16 decided it was now or never to start boxing at age 19 and have been doing it on and off (Had a hand injury couldn't punch for 3 months) for the past 18 months. I've sparred about 250+ rounds with a good range of fighters white collar fighters, some quality amateurs (ex england internationals) and professional journeyman hope to have my first fight some time in the summer before I go to uni.

love that ''dont want to get flat nose etc...''
never ever cross my mind when sparring etc
that is hilarious to think that someone actually thinks goin in doin a bit of sparring or am fights could disfigure your face

i have big problems with my hands but youve just got to prioritise boxing above everything else and its all good.

Good luck but for the record uni is a great place for getting ready for fights and if your carded at a local club there are alot of local cards you can get on if you try

I have boxed for a half year. Never fought amateur. My nose is a little flatter, crooked and I can only breathe through one nostril.

I have bought a FG5000 now though so it's back to training

I agree with the bit about having had a fight making your opinion more valid. If you are an experienced fighter then obviously you can give a much better insight into the way a fighter feels and the build up to a fight and analyse their behaviour.

But it doesn't mean you know more about the sport or your opinion is more valid than someone who has never boxed. Alot of fighters can't explain things they do because they do them naturally and they are so conditioned they do things instinctively. I've had one AM fight (according to this thread more than most) but I am probably in the lowest bracket on this forum for boxing knowledge.

iv done a few months training and sparred a few rounds (did pretty well only got caught with 1 or 2 shots,i already knew i had a good chin and **** defense) had a couple of different trainers say i was decent. but i never started going to the gym until i was 21 even though iv been a fan of boxing since i was about 14-15.

haven't been to the gym for a few months now because i broke my hand but its alright now been on the the bag a few times, my fitness is still ok but never been great due to smoking. thinking about starting again soon i just need to sort my hours out at work and start training a bit more before i start up again.

only want to have a few fights not really bothered about the level i box at just want to experience it.
