thats simply not true. I got into a fight when i was 15, broke my nose and it changed the shape. I actually prefer it though.

Some people show scars, bruises and damage before other.

Had two kickboxing fights as a kid, as planned went over to boxing when old enough. Sparred over 200 rounds ,was carded to box, went to fight numerous times and fights fell through. Two fell through on the night i was to fight a Irish traveler from Epsom & Ewell he 0-0 and i was same. His trainers pulled him when they saw me on pads. He was rank novice and i studied McGuigan tapes . No disrespect to kid i'd of hammered him and learned nothing but probably still been boxing today...

I then went all the way to Dagenham and i didn't get to fight, 18 bouts and there was another 6 of us. Making 3 more bouts and the guy said 'no more, i wanna get home tonight!'.

Few days later jacked it all in i was training so hard and getting no where. I quit at 14, I also had fights pulled off on week of bouts. I was losing my will to train while others were getting bouts after just 6 months in gym. I was a Bantamweight. Tallish one and was finding hard to get matched i suppose...but tell a kid how hard it is and not easy for them to understand.

I still spar with my mate at times, just bit of moving around. He may go pro in September depending on if he motivates himself that is .

:rofl:rofl I meant about did you train at Finchely abc

Also back to the OP I quite enjoy getting punched. When you get caught its like the quickest feedback you can get, you made a mistake and you got punished for it. I've always preferred blunt, constructive feedback to people trying to protect my ego and all that rubbish. If I'm wrong tell me and tell me how to improve don't beat around the bush

it is true actually, a nose that has changed shape does not mean your looks have diminished it does take years of getting bashed in the face for you to become "ugly", infact a flat nose and cauliflower ears are a turn on for some women, its all about the alpha male for some chicks :deal:lol:

Skills do you ever regret it? I started training at 15 but packed it in because I lived far away and had a paper round on saturday mornings so would always be tired for training later on. Its one of my biggest regrets that I didn't stick with it, the trainers used to say I was a bit of a natural. When I'm training now I just think where I could be if I'd stuck with it, not that I'd want to have hundreds of fights or become pro or anything just skill wise.

I stopped watching boxing for a while Matt, i was angry at sport. My dad really wanted me to box and was gutted when i gave it up. I'd hear him saying to my uncle 'he'll go back to it, he's got it in him'. I was stubborn, stupid stubborn looking back. I felt pissed off at how others got fights and i didn't. Thought nah i ain't going back, what's point...

One boxed after 6 months and after the ref pulled my trainer and said 'don't ever do that again. He should of been nowhere near a ring!'. He got battered poor lad. He was 17 and only went in to keep fit and hold hands up. That was my dad's first intention till he realized i was decent.

I do regret it now totally, the last 4 years i've seen lads i boxed with as a kid go pro (both unbeaten atm) and thought 'what if?'. I regret it even more when i go gym and i don't feel as feel as i used to. I feel rusty etc, I must admit my last sparring session i felt decent which makes the itch greater .

i have been boxing on and off since the age of 24 or so.i am 32 now.

never been consistent with it. would have 6 months training hard then o nothing for a year or so. technically I am pretty good but my fitness could always have been better.

had 4 amateur fights, won 2 lost 2. should be 3-1, robbed on points!

been planning on having some white collar fights for a while, just need to start training hard again.

I have sparred quite a fe wpros and good amateurs.

Nice to know your background, i've wondered for a while if your pro. You talk a great deal of sense in thread's as well as the technical thread. You ever considered training fighters?.

The irish side of the family all box, my old man was a local-level schoolboy champ. I started training when I stopped playing rugby at 19, plently of sparring when I was younger but never had an am fight. I was always working nights & weekends but was never any good to be honest. I always smoked & struggled after a round or 2 of light sparring.

I havent trained properly for years but still skip & hit the heavy bag most days. I had a bad eye injury in 09 & have been warned off all contact sports, I'd like to get into training/coaching one day.

Gatti was a looker even after taking so much punishment. Most guys just don't want their hair to get messed up:roll:

:lol:That's how it is these days Ice. Most guys are just nicely preened, with zero substance or charisma. You're talking hair straighteners, make up, the works, as opposed to the Jack Dempsey/Robert De Niro/Sergio Martinez/Arturo Gatti type of "good looking" which is considered naturally handsome, but masculine also.

Most of the young lads these days look more like this, and get dressed by their woman. Been guilty of this myself though, I'm ashamed to admit.
