I fought as a junior, but got jumped when I was 16/17 and got a pretty severe fracture to the skull(glabella) and couldn't get medical clearance after that to be carded as a senior. I quit the gyms for about 10 years and got into the music game, touring with bands etc,
Then a couple of years ago I made my peace with boxing and got back to doing the circuits, bag and padwork, some sparring with the older guys (who have the control to take it easy!).
I'll never compete in a properly licensed event, but my perspective is different now anyway, and I just like being amongst fighters, watching the younger guys learn their game, offering the odd bit of worthless advice etc!

well how do you explain my nose changing shape after 2/3 pucnhes?

Good Looking and Ugly is a matter of opinion. thats really not my look. I am more of a pretty boy. Martinez and many other boxers are good looking blokes (would say gatti was an ugly ****) but you need to look a certain way to pull it off. I couldn't pull off a busted nose.

Yeah I can understand alot of guys in my uni club seem to have stopped/dropped out after not getting a fight when they wanted or losing . It must be so frustrating, I've only had one fight but after 2weeks not drinking breaking my back trying to get into some sort of shape, if it had been called off I would've been fuming. IF that happened a bunch of times I'd definitely consider packing it in.

I only considered fighting when I was offered. I'd only been training about 6months when I had my first fight but because I'd trained before on and off when I was young and always sparred and done pad work etc. with mates I think I had more skill than someone else who'd trained as long. Plus it was a uni fight so the other guy wasn't some really experienced lad.

That's something that drives me crazy when you can't do things you used to or usually can. ITs like when you go back to the gym after a while off or an injury your just like I know what I want to be doing I just can't do it. Suppose you can't let it get to you **** all you can do about it now, take it as a lesson.

After a good few years of being a fan I only took it up a year ago at 29. Tore my ACL playing football and had to give that up so needed a replacement. First of all just for fitness, but then got the bug and started sparring. Had my first white collar back in December and one coming up in April. Going to work with black eyes raises a few eyebrows with people you don't know, but I'm no Mayweather so guess I'll have to put up with getting caught occasionally!

i never said your nose didnt change shape, i know one punch can break your nose but what im saying is it takes years of punishment to have a nose that is flat to your face and becoming an ugly **** in the process, anyway using that excuse dont cut it for me but i suppose thats the society we live in these days mens top proriority is what they look like and what clothes they wear

one slight break of the nose can change its shape. it happend to me. I have seen it with my own eyes people nose change shape after a routine break and the nose is a very import factor in making the face look good.

its not the only reason. whats the main reason people would take up boxing or any other new sport.

    • Get fit - I am already in good shape
    • Build self asteem - I am a confident person
    • Make friends - Have enough friends
    • Keep busy - I am busy enough
    • Achieve something - I have other goals.

Never have boxed although I'm in top shape and would be Paul Williams esque - feared by all to then discover my chin is made of glass.
