christ can you read my posts properly im not saying a nose doesnt change shape, i know it changes shape ffs i have broke my nose a few times, what i said was that it takes years and years of sparring and fighting to get a flat nose

since you posted those reasons they too are full of **** imo, if someone is interested in boxing enough to come on here everyday then there should be no excuse for not going down a club and sparring some rounds (this is not directed at you fully), why cant some of you just admit you tried it and didnt like getting hit in the face, plus your fitness lacked and to get your fitness to a level where you could be competitive would be too tough training for you to cope with, the old want to save my good looks BS gets me angry, all my amateur teammates bar 1 you couldnt even tell they boxed

I became a fan a few years ago but honestly had alot of bulls--t going on and still do so didn't go to a gym.I got into boxing because my treadill broke and I bought a bag and loved it , the intensity .It ended up though I remembered my late Granda was a boxer and also his young brother my late Great uncle who I found on boxrec .I started training at the local gym about 3 years ago ( it turns out my great uncle founded the gym I train at I read Port Vic ) .It's been a hard 3 year though but I feel if I hadn't any bulls--t happening I could be doing alot better also i'd have been lighter when I was younger i'm 29 now .I have been almost ready then fell away from the gym man .Tbh I think what I need is a good 1 to 1 with a trainer and sparring for a good few days say 1 week man and should be sound .This is my great uncles record I was well delighted to find this .Jim Spike McCormack is the best on his record http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=272193&cat=boxer

I'd say most of my mates from the boxing gym are doing better at preserving their looks than my mates at the pub. At my local (not by choice) everybody either has bright pink skin from too much booze or grey skin because their blood has given up even trying to circulate.

I started Muqy Thai a month or so ago but the gym I go to teaches boxing too so gonna switch over to that. They've got dean Byrne (khan and pacman sparring partner) doing a seminar there this weekend so might have to sign up for that.

Never boxed because I wasn't really into boxing as a sport until I was 15/16, no boxing gyms around here either that I know of. Maybe if I'd grown up with the sport, family being into it etc I'd have given it a go.

I'm with Rob on the looks thing, especially my nose which is bad enough already

There is actually no boxing clubs withtin a few hundred miles of where I grew up, then by the time I stayed somewhere that did, I was severely unfit and in my late teens.

I've done bits of training from about 12 til now, but never realt dedicated as I was always into smoking weed and could never build the stamina or resilience not to get burned after a particularly hard session, and then I'd stopped for months, but knowing a few mates that train we've had garden sparring sessions and do pad work with each other now and then, so I've never really stopped even if I haven't progressed all that much. Have taught a few nippers round my way the basics, and I mean the basics. I honestly felt that it did something for 'em, but last time I saw one of 'em they said they were into their skateboarding and whatnot and hadn't taken it up, so nevermind I tried :bbb

In terms of boxing I train with a Polish mate every so often and try to hit the bag once a night round man, just to keep a bit of sharpness. Starting to train MMA now so am starting Muay Thai soon, I'm nt scared of getting hit so much, rather that I'm blowing out of me arse after having an hour and lack the drive not to ask myself 'why the **** am I doing this?'

So interested in combat though, so I owe it to myself to get truly dedicated for the first time.

had 7 Muay Thai fights and 14 amateur boxing fights. Last was about 2 months ago and I have been sick of boxing pretty much since. Not been at my club for a month now.

Used do a lot of boxing training in my early 20s but never had any fights, I was happy enough with the fitness and messing sparring with my mates. i've been offered to do the white collar stuff a few times and have thought about it but I like my currys and a few cans at the weekend to much to commit to a serious training regime.

So this White Collar boxing? What does that entail? Just a bunch of over 40 hobbyists doing abit of fighting? Is it serious? Any ex pros do it?

Sounds quite interesting. Are there belts and championships to be won?
