The guy is raw, wide and awkward, he's off-radar due to his passport and he doesn't have major powers backing him. But Sakio Bika is more than capable of fighting, and under the circumstances, he's being totally overlooked. - the community is still discussing the Ward-Dirrell friendship and the controversial pullout - all focus is on Super Six and this fight is off-tournament - Sakio Bika is coming from a 1st round disqualification loss and is heading to Andre's hometown But is there a chance Andre Ward views this fight as the majority of boxing - a simple tune-up - and overlooks the Scorpion? Despite the DQ loss, Bika is on his career-best run. Following the Bute loss (no shame in that), he won The Contender, his last 4 fights lasted a total of 6 rounds, sparked Manfredo in 3 and was about to spark unbeaten Mendy when he landed one punch too many, and got DQ'd for the foul. Is he more than what general consensus says - a slow, crude, wide awkward brawler - and are we all sleeping on Sakio Bika?
No. Ward has all the advantages here. He is what he appears to be, strong, rough and powerful but slow, crude and wide open as you say. The only way he wins is if Ward was to mentally collapse under a barrage of dirty tactics and rough inside fighting, but he's already shown that he's not adverse to leading with his head back and roughing guys up inside. The only way he wins is if he cuts Ward from a clash of heads and it's mistakenly ruled as a cut from a punch and Ward gets stopped by the ringside doctor. That is literally the only scenario I can think of and how likely is that to happen? The only worry in this fight isn't that Ward gets beat, it's that he sustains a bad cut through a clash of heads.
Bika is indeed a live opponent. If you also look at the DQ loss, if he would have held his head together it probably would have been a 1st on 2nd round T/KO win. But it's freakin' Ward were talking about here, and in his hometown (again) like you mentioned so he will probably get away with everthing but hitting Bika with his stool. Ward will probably get away with an UD, but I also don't think it's going to be an easy fight for Andre.
this is a tougher fight then green http://www.ringtv.com/blog/2540/ward_would_be_wise_not_to_overlook_bika/
If Billy Goat Ward tries any of his ram-raiding antics, expect Bika to give him it back with aplomb. This will be a battle of cranium durability. Bika will win by Headbutt TKO1 without a punch being thrown.
You ment well BigBone, But this thread took a weird turn... lol (I forgot what I was gonna say, Now I just feel bad for some reason...)
I feel bad for Bika's wife. She did nothing wrong yet some people on here roast her just because of her lack in the looks department. This thread is about Bika, not his wife. To give my opinion, I only worry how Ward will react to someone he possible can't bully. Bika may be what Robert Allen was to Hopkins. If that's the case, Ward still should win in a very good fashion but he won't be able to manhandle him as he wants to.
Wards way too smart to overlook Bika Calzaghe overlooked him and got a hellish night. Ward knows exactly what to expect, and can get dirty himself if he has to
