Agreed with this as well. Although the division has been strong for a couple of years now, i wouldn't call it an era.

It wasn't long ago that Judah moved up into a weak division to fight spinks for the undisputed championship of the world.

i thinks its been an entertaining and exciting era for the welterweight division. i would not call it great YET. but there is time

we have already had classics like:

    cotto v judah
    cotto V Mosley
    Williams V Margarito

and the following fights had great potential and got us all talking (well nearly all of them)
    Cotto V Quintana
    Margarito V Cintron
    Margarito V Clottey
    Judah V Mayweather
    Williams V Quintana
    Maywether V Hatton

We still have Margarito v Cotto to come. Hopefully there will be a de la hoya fight for the winner. hopefully paul williams will stay around and PBF wil come back to fight the main man in the division

This era has given us more superfights than the late 90's. the only superfights in that era all involved Oscar. Quartey, Tito, Whitaker and co would not fight each other (well tito and sweet pea fought a bit too late).

Tito had about 5 years of fighting guys who were of no threat to him. DLH V Mosley wa sthe only truly great fight of that era

More proof that Mayweather made the boxing world go round. The Welterweight division is chalk full of good fighters and a couple possible greats, and all you people can think about is Mayweather lol.

that division is shaping up well. but the main talents, Casamayor, JMM and Pac are all coming to the end of there careers. there's no young exceptional talents like cotto and williams in that division. yes theres some entertaining fighters and fights to be made

I bet that some mug will post a response informing me that I have forgot about Amir khan

Well there's still plenty of match-ups to be made at 147, especially when Clottey beats Judah and captures the IBF title, here are some match-ups that can still be made..............

    Clottey vs. Berto
    Cotto vs. Williams
    Cintron vs. Collazo
    Quintana vs. Mosley

    Its not the end.
The reign of the great Michael Jennings is about to begin.

If Cotto beats Margarito and Williams then the division becomes cyclical, so it might be the end but probably not if Mayweather infringes again.
