Was Jones not another guy mentioned?

I mean, at the end of the day, it all boils down to YOUR definition of natural talent.

No, it boils down to Roy Jones Jr- the most talented boxer to ever lace em up.

The Hector Lavoe of the boxing world. I'm speaking a language you understand now.

...not mine but the experts...Natural talent at 15...and displaying a flawless performance at 17 ..known as the Bilbe of Boxing...is damm good credential...

Face it you put SRL, RJJ, PBF Sweet Pea at 17 against 17 years old Wilfred and it would be a laugher...

So natural talent by YOUR definition is how good they were as a young age? :huh

Is age really that important when talking about natural talent? I mean, it sure as hell can be used as a positive for Benitez! But I don't think it can be a negative on other guys who perhaps took 3 or 4 more years (20/21) to get to that level.

I think what's more fair: At their peaks (of their prime's), who had the most natural talent?

I understand the premise of the thread. I want to know why Benitez would beat all those boxers who are ATG's. You can't tell me "because experts say so". You dismiss their thoughts on Jones.

I took a semester off, so I posted alot these few months.

to be honest i am not sure your right there, whilst i will ALWAYS question roys heart, i am not sure you can take anything away from his natural talent, you cant FIGHT his way without it.

as for PBF, the dude stands up as a example of natral boxing talent in any era. (so does WB as well tho)

so not saying they are more talented, but they are in the same ilk imo.

Ruben Blades, E. Palmieri, Willie Colon, Cheo Feliciano... they may have all been more refined than Lavoe, but they didn't have the raw talent or the ability to improvise that he did.

This comes down to how you define talent. They way I think you are defining is in how fast Benitez got out of the gate. I define it as the ability to improvise, to do things rarely seen before, the ability to adapt, having that special quality...

...not really becuase Wilfred was not raw talent, he grew up in very good boxoing family and a father that was a PR HOF trainer...He had the talent but he also got the schooling..and that combined made him a freak of boxing at 17

now as for LaVoe, he was street type sonero...he learned his craft in the street..while Ismael Rivera, who Benny More, who many say was the best sonero ever, called him "El Sonero Mayor" ..the greatest sonero!!

BTW, Eddie Palmieri was not a sonero, his somero on his Orchestra was Ismael Quintana...and later Lalo Rodriguez

So then I ask you how you define talent?

I guess it wasn't a bad idea to put our criteria down a long time ago.

Benitez was anatural talented that was aided by his family linege in boxing royalty..he took it all in and at 15 he was already nationally rank when you ahd only two sanctioning bodies....

He was master boxer...at 17...again if you want to compare, let see how RJJ or PBF have done at 17 against a the 17 year old Wilfred
