    Anthony Joshua

    A-List
    Daniel Dubois
    Fabio Wardley
    Moses Itauma
    Dereck Chisora
    Lawrence Okolie

    B-Level
    Joe Joyce
    Hughie Fury
    Dillian Whyte

    C-Level
    Richard Riakphore
    David Adeleye
    Jamie TKV
    Frazer Clarke

Its the golden era for British heavyweights, so many operating in and around the top 10, so many competitive match ups, tonnes of depth.

In terms of promotional power and the places UK heavyweights get on the world ratings scene, yes.
But in terms of actual quality, not really.

Is this current or based on their entire career? Whyte and Joyce are shot to bits and should be nowhere near B as you put it. If it's based on career, then they supersede the likes of Chisora and Okolie. Itauma must be up there on potential. The criteria is all over the shop.

You could have probably said the same thing in the mid to late 90s. People forget how strong the British heavyweight scene actually was back then.

You had Lennox Lewis, Frank Bruno, Herbie Hide, Henry Akinwande – four genuine world-level operators who likely inspired the next generation. And that was without 24/7 hype machines.

These days social media has turned a lot of average fighters into overachievers, simply because people buy into the hype. Promoters and fighters know it too, and they use it to build “rivalries” and spin it into PPV money.

Some of the current crop of fighters are better actors (bullshitters) than fighters.

Fair point, mate. The list wasn’t the main topic of the thread anyway; it was just a quick rough ranking based on a mix of things: career record, current rankings, big wins, commercial pull, etc.

Whyte and Joyce are definitely shot right now, but their past resumes still give them some weight. It's not solely based on 2025 form.

Which British heavyweight era do you actually think was stronger than this one? Name your 5 A-level fighters from that era to beat my 5.

Awful division in general. State of that Jaime the other night says it all……. And he won.

If they all fought regularly enough it certainly could be a fun era but the level of messing around, waiting and dodging is just ridiculous.

Absolutely not. A division full of has-beens (Joshua and Fury), never-weres (Chisora and Whyte), and a bunch of incredibly flawed names at domestic-level (Okolie, Clarke, Tshikeva, Allen, Adeleye etc.)

I’ll give you Itauma as an exciting prospect, and you’ve got Dubois and Wardley at fringe-world level, but those three certainly don’t equate to a ‘golden era’.

Dubois and Wardley fringe world level? One is the full WBO champ and the other is the former IBF world champion and former undisputed challenger. If that’s still just “fringe world level” to you, fair enough. Which British heavyweight era do you think was stronger than this one?
