is there actual proof (links, articles or video) of JMM pricing himself out vs pac, and choosing morales over khan ?????
Arum says they offered the same deal that he got for Mayweather - but he wanted more. Guess we're taking Arum's word on this one.
http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=272760 First Arum says that Marquez team only deserve the same amount as the mayweather fight or a little less since he lost... nothing else. Team Marquez Oblige. Arum then says, asking the same ammount or a little more is stupid after team MArquez offered what they wanted, why would they even ask this? hmmm LOL didn't you ask them to.... Then they go back and say the weight is an Issue, Marquez says OK to 147.... Then they say marquez is pricing himself out after he agreese to the weight and finalize deal with mosely for the same amount... The mosely deal was done, right after Mosely left GBP.
What Marquez wanted and what GBP sent are two different things. Marquez was fine with a slightly less cut from the PBF fight. HOWEVER, this goes back to the promotion issues. GBP wanted a higher number because they wanted a fee since they are taking away their cut (remember that PBF vs JMM was a inhouse GBP fight). So Schaefer sent a revised contract that reflected the GBP buyout fee, which I assume is around 25% higher. Thus ending up more than the original PBF vs JMM cut. Thus Top Rank saying no. Arum mentioned that he was willing to allow JMM to promote it (thus pushing GBP and their fee out) but JMM Promotions did not send a counter offer reflecting it (aka "no deal"). So GBP vs TR strikes again.
Attendance for the Katsidis fight was less than 5000 I think. MGM is what, an 11,000 seat venue? Pretty bad. And I doubt all of those were full price seats. Probably quite a few comps in there.
Never take Arum, or any vested party's, word when discussing negotiations. He has consistently demonstrated he is not interested in doing co-promotions or split cards. That automatically leads to a buy out of non-Top Rank fighters' promotional teams,an additional expense he is unwilling to pay. With those rules in place, that typically leaves in-house fighters or promotional free agents as likely candidates for Arum's cards.
You're right. So how would Arum know what went on in the Khan/JMM negotiations? A: He doesn't. He's just talking out his ass to justify the Pac/Mosley fight.
Arum. He speaks, he lies. I take anything he says with a grain of salt, there's more to the story I'm sure.
