Are we only going by arums word, or......

everytime they say marquez dosnt attract the fans but i always see the arena pretty full when i watch and if not...i gotta be gettin me some tickets

 

Marquez has always been a better draw than Clottey and Mararito. The only reason they do any sort of numbers is because of Manny. Plus, more people will pay to see Marquez given the nature of the first two bouts.

Arum is talking out his ass as a way to cover up the fact that he never considered the Marquez or Berto fights. Arum goes into negotiations with the illusion that he's going to give fans the fights they deserve. In reality, that is NEVER his intention. Happened with Cotto vs. Martinez, Mayweather vs. Pacquiao, and now Pacquiao vs. Marquez.

Arum does well with building fighters up. As soon as they're good names, he screws them over by making them take low risk/high reward fights. Any fighter should definitely leave Arum once they make a name because they'll be stuck fighting an easy but fruitless career.
