He's 23 and he's just jumped up two weight classes to win a world title in his first fight at that weight. Are we overlooking this just because he's hyped up a lot?

If it was anyone else, ESB would be going mad. Instead everyone's hating him.

You're right actually, I still think he deserves credit for what he's done.

This is ESB bro, he's just won a competitive, exciting fight so he's ****, and had he won by blowout, his opponent selection would be ****, that's how the ESB mob works. Nobody here cares about the actual fight or what it means.

Well Cano is a career lightweight too, who lost to an ancient Morales and Mosley and Broner didn't do that much better against Malignaggi than Cano did.

As for jumping up 2 weightclasses to win a world title, c'mon, dude. Malignaggi was a career JWW and probably the lightest punching WW titleholder in history who held a pretty meaningless belt and who would probably lose to any of the other current titleholders at 147.

I don't wanna **** on Broner. But let's not pretend he did something even remotely similar to what Duran and Mosley did when they beat Leonard and De la Hoya, or even Hopkins when he jumped up to 175 to beat Tarver.

exactly! He deserves accolades for this move regardless of the champion he faced.

before the naysayers chime in.... I'm going to ask this question.

" if it was so easy why hasn't it been done by only a few boxers EVER..?!" give AB his props.

i think people give too much credit to a guy holding a belt. paulie was no threat to the top 5 welters before this fight and he isnt one now. if mikey garcia went up in his next fight and got a split decision win over gavin reese, i wouldnt call it some great achievement. decent win but not unheard of.

I think people are, kids only 23 and what he is doing is no easy feat.

I think the problem is so many people hate him as a person they forget reality for a second

I think the other problem is people over rate the **** out of guys and they forget reality

if you look at Broner for what he is this was a good win and a good needed test for a young fighter who was getting too used to guys just collapsing under his power

this fight was a good lessen and a hard night out but its not like he won a robbery or he struggled mightily or even got exposed

I think at 147 there arent too many guys that obviously beat him either

Floyd never was HUGE in comparrison to his opponents. He did never rehydrate to become a HUGE guy. He grew as timed progressed.

    1. The WBO title at 130 is meaningless. Totally vacant against an unknown, limited top 20 ranked type of guy.

    2. The WBC title at 135 is legit and over the best or second best LW at the time (although the division was at its all time worst, literally).

    3. The WBA title at 147 has been meaningless since Floyd/Mosley made it vacant and Senchenko bought it.

I will say that Broner has an amazing resume for his short amount of years as a pro.

People tend to forget that Paulie is a cagey vet that has fought many of the top fighters. I knew his style would give Broner issues but I knew that Adrian would win it going away. The guy is a Talent but he aint no Money . . . but who is? People constantly compare him to Mayweather but that is an impossible test to pass.

The fact is he jump a weightclass and beat a cagey vet . . . Paulie may be shop worn but he gives most a tough night. AB still has a lot to learn but he is one of the best in the biz. @ 135 i can see how he would be considered in the P4P mix but 147 I do not think he is there yet

You can't score p4p points at 135, the comp is not there, unless you're talking long reign. But he can't stay at 135 long term, I'd be surprised if he could go back down at all.

I don't disagree otherwise, but remember he was like a 15-1 favorite. After Cano is was obvious Paulie is just keeping the belt warm for whoever GBP wants: Broner, Mosley, Maidana, etc.
