are we putting too much stock into guys with 'stellar' amateur careers?

DLH was Olympic Gold medalist, turned a pro when he was 19.
Looks that this helped for him.

So were Ward and Mayweather (robbed of Gold) but the thing is that these guys didn't stay in the game for so long, they all turned pro once they turned 18-19

Ofc why not, Oly medalists usually have enough offers to turn a pro.
They are placed on A side to develop them. Good beginning for pro career.

According to this Forum Campbell was a favourite over Garcia lol.

Campbell was 2nd to only Loma after his loss apparently hahahaha.

Now he is a bum just like I always said he was hahahaha.

Another great prediction by the poster of the decade

Considering most Gold medalist make it very far into the pro ranks I'd say they're a very good indicator.

Take a look at any P4P Top 10 and the only guys without really good amateur careers are Canelo and Estrada and both of them were very good, Canelo becoming #2 best at his age category and Estrada went 94-4 winning the Mexican Olympiad.
