He did what he had to do. His career will pan out better if he stays light and boring. I didn't think he could fix his style so quickly.
He did what he had to do, it was obvious tonight was all about business, there was too much at stake. He mixed up his jab nicely in power and target. Even threw in as few feints. He answered a lot of his critics. But there was a lot of running. Every time you see a boxer stick and move everyone is in a rush to call it a boxing clinic but running and not punching off your movement is not really boxing. It was very dull.
Never was a fan of AJ. Tonight he won over a bit more of me. He showed patience, good timing on his shots, discipline and understanding range. His jab has also improved leaps and bounds including his footwork and stamina. Kudos to changing his mentality and understanding his strengths and weaknesses and actually boxing the fight around them.
Not so fast... His opponent was in awful shape with cement feet on him, zero agility or snap, so naturally AJ fought pretty much uncontested in his safe zone...he was never pressed at all from the XXX Burrito, not too difficult to look good against. Fury and Wilder will not submit. Fact.
That was the best boxing performance AJ has had since he turned pro. Using feints and good movement. Vast improvement as a boxer
I don't like how panicky he looked at times, but on the other hand I admire that he took a totally new approach and did it quite well. I think this was a hurdle he just had to clear. If there's a rubber, which I hope there will be, I think he will get the job done with more confidence,
Yes, a masterclass by Joshua. He's raised himself in my eyes to being a very good boxer, and not just a piece of meat invented by Eddie "Snake" Hearn. And Ruiz being overweight has nothing to do with his performance, and everything to do with Joshua and his team coming up with a plan to neutralize every positive and take advantage of every negative in Ruiz' game. It was straight out of The Art of War. “So in war, the way is to avoid what is strong, and strike at what is weak.”
I didn't make predictions if he fough them. I'm saying if he runs around and trains down he won't get knocked out by guys like Ruiz and roughed up by Povetkin.
Yup...remeber you saying the same when canelo was found out as a stinking drugs cheat...you said the same then...whatever happened to sport & honour, at least AJ does appear to have that...
Ggg won the first. Canelo won the second. Thats how i see it thats my opinon ..if you have a difference of opinion then thats fine i respect yours
It went exactly the way I thought it would go, a little boring perhaps, but he got the win, and that's what the goal was at the end of the day. My only concern prior to the fight was how well Joshua would be able to fight this type of fight, but he really impressed me with how fluid he was. He's just so much looser and more effective at this weight than the bulked up steroid tank of past fights, and while it might lower his KO percentage it's exactly the right tactic to have if he wants to maintain his place at the top of the division.
I will be one to admit that I was wrong on my prediction of the out come of this fight. Congratulations to the once again champion, he showed resourcefulness in winning this fight, I had predicted a TKO 8 victory for Ruiz. It will be interesting to see the upcoming fights in the near future for World Champion, Anthony Joshua.
