How could you not be, the man throws 950 punches a match. Has incredible workrate, never bores. The only people who voted no are the RJJ/Hopkins/Kessler dick suckers
I like all those fighters even more than Calzaghe. Still doesn't mean one can't be a fan of Calzaghe.
Always going to be haters of this man. They are just mad that Calzaghe beat the living **** out of Jones, even a prime Jones woulda lost to that man. ****.
Yawn. He got dropped by bhop who have little power at old ass age. and Jones who lost his legs and stood in front of Joe with his hands up throwing 1-2s. The Jones joe beat was a gun shy getting Kayoed shell of himself. Even Jermain taylor whoop up on Bhop better than Joe and he sucks. And the sad part is i thought BHOP should have won the split decision. Too bad he acted a fool playing hurt on rounds he was winning who worked against him in making it look like he lost the rounds. Idiot.
I used to not give a **** about Slappy Joe until his nuthuggers started bombarding ESB and comparing him to legitimately great fighters. How anybody can be a fan of this is beyond me: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ACgTJhEdj5M[/ame] Slap, Slap, Slap, Slappy Joe!
I'm indifferent; his "style" was horrible to watch at times and his punch technique was atrocious sometimes as well. Loved the Lacy beatdown though, and I enjoyed the Kessler match. I respect Joe for what he did.
He had fun fights, that I will not deny. However his style was too ugly for my liking to call myself a legitimate fan. Never hated the guy though.
Joe seems to gather more heated debate than anyone not named Pacquiao, Mayweather or Klitschko (in fact he's probably divided opinion more than ANY other boxer in ESB history) So i made the vote joe public cause there are posters who constantly talk **** on him and act as if what theyre saying is fact - when the only fact is they dont like the guy Also wanted to see which posters are honest with their dislike, and expose those who are .... LIARS !!!!!! :admin:admin:admin :nono :smooch
Not a fan. Beating a completely shot Jones doesn't mean anything. Hopkins was also old and past his physical prime, and he dropped Calzaghe and made it a close fight. Eubank was also at the end of his career when he fought Calzaghe. His best win is probably Kessler. The Lacy fight was also memorable, but really, how good is Lacy? His style was one of the ugliest I've ever seen, but it worked for him, so fair enough. I liked that he always responded well when hurt, and he had a good workrate. Aside from that...meh.
Mixed feelings really. Great ring intelligence and he actually knew how to fight on the inside. Insane stamina as well. Pretty ugly/scrappy style at times and with an awful punching technique. Also spent too many years in **** poor matchups. His best win was against Hopkins but to be honest that was a fight that could've gone either way. The very definition of a close fight imo. I don't blame for his show boating against Jones (though it was one of those Dad dancing at the wedding moments) because I seem to recall Roy being a bit of an arrogant dick at times during his career. Edit: I also think he missed a trick in fighting a shot Jones and passed up a golden opportunity to be the first to expose Pavlik. A fight he would've won with ease.
