the sick thing is they would try. I can see the ref warning Joe for slapping with his wrists, which would be fair in a way, but they would take it to the extreme and dock him multiple points for it, therefore Ottke scrapes a SD. joke, but serious they would do it.

I think only Roy Jones would be safe going there, such was his skill level he would knock Otkke out with one blow and shut up the Sven contingent for good. I really wish he had.

I actually found it hilarious when he did that to RJJ in their fight. He could have really beat RJJ even worse but he carried him the last few rounds alot of people tend to forget about that.

 

respect for the roadwork and mindset to last all that time, but if it took Joe his whole career to get to that stage, it begs the question why he left it so long to have defining fights.

And why he'd pick two oldies he could outlast. Seems a shitty little stage if you've been working towards it your whole life. Dawson, Pavlik and perhaps the emerging Ward would have been the real big stage, but at least one of them would have ended his unbeaten record, so I can see why he chose the little league even for his career pinnacle.


I think his desire to artificially extend his unbeaten record by doing this really backfired on him, tbh. If he'd took on better quality and sucked up the inevitable defeat or two then he could be prouder of his acheivements.

 

There was alot of 'how dare he act like that with RJJ' sort of stuff going around, but the fact is that Roy signed for the fight, both guys had respect for eachother, and put on a decent show.
