Dawson was really only the one he should have fought. If he had fought Ward back then people would have given him **** saying beating Ward proves nothing. Dawson was an established guy with some big wins and I agree Joe should have fought him.
Not a fan of him at all. Hopkins lost twice to Taylor but Taylor was losing down the stretch and looking badly hurt first time and second time the whole general feeling was Hopkins had done enough. There was rumours that Hopkins was weight drained (dont know myself, but he did turn pro inside the CW limit). Still that loss was at MW, but since Hopkins moved up from that loss to LHW he has only ever lost to one fighter. CALZAGHE. Hopkins at LHW became the champ and after Calzaghe beat him became the champ again. At LHW Hopkins has shared a ring with Tarver, Wright, Pavlik, Jones, Pascal twice and Dawson, but only lost to Calzaghe. Calzaghe landed more than 100 punches than Hopkins throughout the fight. Contrary to what people want to believe, Calzaghe also made Hopkins miss more All round punch percentages, Calzaghe finished ahead of Hopkins Calzaghe outlanded Hopkins in every round Calzaghe beat Hopkins in America, at a new weight with 3 American judges and Cortez as ref. Calzaghe scored the single highest score card against Hopkins ever 116-111. The 2 judges that scored for Calzaghe agreed on 9 of the rounds Calzaghe landed more on Hopkins than anyone ever. Now I know there will be a flood of people coming on here noting Hopkins scoring a flash KD in the first round, and I agree that Hopkins did win a few rounds even when he didnt land as often, but people are mad if they think Calzaghe won on workrate, Calzaghe won because he was able to land his left more often than Hopkins could land his right. Calzaghe finished the stronger and took away the moments Hopkins likes down the stretch. Other thoughts, If Hopkins thought he was winning, do you think he would have been looking for time out and would bother trying to get points deducted off of Calzaghe, of course he wouldnt, Hopkins knew he was losing. What I do note is that nobody seems to mind Hopkins lost to Taylor. In the first Hopkins/Taylor fight, Jermaine was badly hurt and Hopkins looked the stronger at the end, yet it seems to upset alot of these people that Calzaghe beat Hopkins. Appears very biased. If you look at how many points ahead Taylor was overall against Hopkins in two fights, Calzaghe was more points ahead on the judges cards in just one fight
No way Hopkins won the fight, Cal took a clear SD. There was no way Bhop would take a 12 round decision it if he couldnt fight more than 6 rounds, its simple math. it was merely a reply to a previous post you made, but I see by your own admission that you know you made a meaningless post. thanks for letting me know now. Future reference, it'd be better for you NOT to post when you HAVEN'T a point - that saves time, space and people puzzling over your post.
Nah. Truly terrible punching technique, a cherrypicker by nature, a very dull career full of routine WBO hometown defences against mediocrities, very technically deficient fighter for a longtime world titleist. Not my cup of tea at all.
I understand Roy Jones is great, but some fans acts like he is a holy man or something. Of course it was a cherrypick from Joes side, but Roy made some good money too, and Joes soft slaps dont really hurt anyone. The fight was not very good, but ok.
Just for the record,I had Calzaghe beating Hopkins by 2 or 3 points. The person to whom I initially responded had written the statement that JC was the GOAT at 175.My point was that by beating Jones and Hopkins, that does not make Calzaghe the GOAT at 175.The list of people Hopkins beat at 175 doesn't particularly impress me(Jones' group at 175 and JC's at 175 don't impress me,either).I'm not of the group of people that consider Bernard one of the greats at 175 either as neither his 175 resume nor his performances at that weight would indicate that.2 questions for you.Do you consider Hopkins an ATG at 175(I most certainly don't)?Do you consider Joe Calzaghe the GOAT at 175 as the other fellow wrote in his post(again,I most certainly don't)?
I wonder what century it will be before cretins like this die out and the world realizes that you don't need to throw all your own preferences and principles out the window just to blindly love and idolize someone because they were born a few hundred miles away from where you were born.
Interestingly put,Forza.Do you believe that a fan has to support a (great)fighter(or any other athlete for that matter) simply because they carry the same passport? Are you a fan of every great American fighter, ever?Just curious.
