Just wondering if anybody boxes amatuer or pros with a heart murmur? I have one and was wondering if I will be able to compete. Asked a couple of people who boxed and got two different answers, yes and no. I guess it pretty much depends on the doctor who does the physical, but was just wondering if anyone has had a similar situation and could give some feedback on the topic.
go and do the medical required to fight and see if you pass then speak to your doctor and ask his opinion on boxing with a murmer
Went to see my doctor last week and he said I look in good shape and if I dont have any symptoms than keep doing what I'm doing. I also took an ekg 3 days ago but haven't got any results back yet. It would just suck to push my self and put in alot of effort and work to fight and than get denied all of a sudden.
well get a full proper check on your heart, make sure you a ok to even train hard. If you have no problem sparring them you will be ok to fight but if there is possible issies with your heart , i would look into that first before you do any more training.
I know that they allow people with asd or vsd murmors play american football (with a consent form from their cardiologist) my son has both an asd&vsd he's not a sportsman though more of a book worm lol but he does workout religiously and his cardiologist has several patients that are athletes with similar conditions. they tend to limit intense physical activity to patients with heart arrythmia problems.
i can remember a lad in the early 80's having his mediacl for amateur boxing and a murmur showed up.the doctor told him there was no chance but the same lad started kick-bpxing as was ok'd
