Well for someone of his age/time as a world level fighter to have already fought Kotelnik, Malignaggi and Maidana? And he fights Bradley if he beats McCloskey as well? He deserves credit for that.
If he really rejected ss3 for primetime the he is such a fool. Less money now could have meant more money down the road
It's such short term thinking it beggars belief. I saw an article stating that Khan and McCloskey's purses were set to be reduced (Khan's by £1 million) due to the fall through of the Skysports PPV. Khan promotions response is to try and find another even more reclusive PPV channel. Has anyone in their team stopped to consider what wonders having Bradley up in the ring after the fight (which Khan is likely to win convincingly), promoting their fight 5 months down the line, would do for that fight's sales when it is inevitably on PPV?
I was probably never gonna watch it anyway. The whole event is crap and everything surrounding it is crap. I kinda feel bad for McCloskey, he has his big opportunity and now everyone just can't be ****ed with it.
Having issue with having to pay for it is one thing.. but paying £17.50... there will be very few who are prepared to pay so much. 2 weeks ago almost all boxing people I know were intending to get the SKY PPV. In the last 48 hours I have yet to speak to one who has said they will, most just saying it's not worth that much.
I'll be watching, not a chance I'll be paying though. It wasn't a PPV event on SBO and it sure isn't on Primetime. Should have been sold at a reduced rate if anything.
I'm in two minds about it. You guys need to remember, McCloskey is the innocent party in this. If Khan doesn't get paid well enough, then neither does McCloskey. If the fight remained on sky sports without ppv, khan is getting like 200k and where does that leave Paul? I think given the circumstances Khan needs to find a PPV channel that will do this, and I guess for both guys to get a decent pay. So if many of us boycott surely we are hurting McCloskey who has done no wrong. This situation is mightily ****ed up. Damn. I think the smartest thing to have done was to pull the card altogether. Yes we wouldn't like it, but it's all gone sour now.
