Cotto is always in exciting fan pleasing fights and has tons of skills. He is still a top10 p4p fighter. And im quite sure he will be in a few other wars. Boxing needs skilled warriors like Cotto.

Evangelista threw in the towel ... one of the worst case scenarios in boxing ... having a family member in a key role in your career.

Cotto had 4 min and he wouldve been still the champion ...

Still a fan of Cotto, just a bit dissapointed in him. He could have/should have won that fight. Taking nothing away from Margarito. I still don't like that guy, but he showed some incredible toughness and determination. I'm not ready to welcome "boxing's newest superstar". To me it was like watching a taller version of a young Arturo Gatti. He's a guy that will get the fans out of their seats but you have to get them in the seats first. I don't see AM as that guy. Doesn't have the "IT" factor. A Cotto win would have been much better for boxing as it would have brought us one step closer to Cotto/Mayweather. PBF & HBO aren't at all thrilled about a PBF/Margo matchup. Anyway, once again Congrats to Margo on a job well done!

even if his uncle did'nt throw in the towel, the look on cotto's face was like he did'nt think he could continue anymore.

As usual, the most IDIOTIC comment of the day comes from fitzgeraldz.

Here, I'll break it down for you since you clearly do not understand boxing:

MARGARITO WAS AHEAD 96-94 ON TWO OF THE JUDGES SCORECARDS AND THE OTHER WAS 95-95 GOING INTO THE ELEVENTH ROUND.

IF EVANGELISTA COTTO DID NOT STEP IN, A BLIND MAN COULD SEE MARGARITO WOULD'VE KNOCKED HIM OUT AS SOON AS THE FIGHT RESTARTED AFTER THE SECOND COUNT, HE HAD NOTHING LEFT AND COULD NEVER HAVE LASTED ANOTHER MINUTE.

BUT! IF EVANGELISTA COTTO DID NOT STEP IN AND COTTO DID MAKE IT THROUGH THE ROUND, THE ROUND MUST HAVE BEEN A 10-7 FOR MARGARITO AS THERE WERE TWO COUNTS FOR COTTO (OR POSSIBLY MORE IF IT HAD WENT ON). THAT WOULD MAKE THE SCORES AFTER THE 11TH 106-101 ON TWO JUDGES SCORECARDS AND 105-102 ON THE OTHER with only one round to go.

HOW THE **** WAS MIGUEL 4 MINUTES AWAY FROM BEING CHAMPION IF HIS UNCLE HADN'T STEPPED IN THEN?!?!? The fight WAS 100% already lost at the point it ended, unless Cotto could've stopped Margarito, and of course Margarito could not have been stopped by Cotto last night.

At least watch the fight and pay attention before coming on here with these ridiculous comments.

I actually agree with both you and fitzgeraldz.

It was sad that Cotto's family had to throw in the towel. Miguel's taking of the second knee basically forced his corner to stop it.

However, there was no way Cotto was going to win the fight, as you do a great job of pointing out, Pacfan.

Many want to tell themselves that Cotto was on his way to victory, if only he didn't gas, etc.

No. As you said, the 11th was going to be a 10-7 round and Cotto had absolutely no chance going into the 12th. He and his corner both knew it.

Either by KO or on the cards, Cotto was going to lose.

Now, do I think he should have quit, like he did?

I don't know. His actions will always taint his legacy but they probably also saved his career from possibly ending last night. You never know how much damage the next punch will do, particularly when you are totally exposed as was Cotto and you have a brute like Margo stalking you.

Overall, quitting was probably not a bad thing for Cotto and his team given the circumstances.

Margo & cotto are in my top favorite fighters list.
How can u not like Cotto he fought anyone, If he lost its because hes not ducking anyone. Thats why i consider Miguel a true warrior, takes on all comers.
Hes not some *** not willing to test himself, dont wanna say any names but...Gayweather. Come on guys, Mayweather ducked Margo. Everyone was saying Margo would be exposed as the bum he is. "Cant wait till he gets beat by Cotto and we never have to hear his name".
Well guess what do u think Mayflower would be undefeated if he would have fought Cotto, Margo, or Williams. Hell maybe even Cintron. Look at the fighters that fool fought at Welter. You tell me if that builds legacy? Hell Miguel Is still a better fighter than Ugly boy Gayweather, Miguel Has pride to fight the best. IMO he can still hold his head high, where as Mayweather cant, due to the comp he fought at welter

i agree with this..had they let it continue it would only become worst than it was, cotto was bleeding all over the place, the amount of blood loss would make him dizzy and would only hurt him more.

IMO it was a smart move that he quit..when you're losing a lot of blood you're a KO waiting to happen, i know this because i've felt losing a lot of blood before when my hand was cut deeply by a knife i felt suddenly dizzy and was like ready to collapse.

Everyone who wanted that fight to continue is only wishing for disaster on cotto's part
