There is a fine line between blatant obvious (see Calzaghe vs Manfredo) and early (Froch vs Groves I) and just right (Mayorga vs Forrest I) . If a ref blows the call (to early or to late), there should be penalties put in place. There has to be some way of governing the standard. Steve Smoger and Tony Weeks should be welcomed anytime to ref even the highest profile of fights. Roger Tillerman, Russell Mora, and Alfredo Perez should never ref again.
Every job starts with education, then experience. Have the newer, less experienced, refs watch and adapt to the ones that do it right. You want tradition, let there be a standard. If you dont cut it - you wont be a ref.

Do you honestly think Takam had a chance to win?

Boxing has gotton soft. Plain n simple. In this era well never see a ward gatti type match again. The threshold or the bar for withstanding a test of a mans heart mind and body has dramatically lowered. There will never be true tests of a mans resolve like the 80s ..90s because some men arent built like others..and the instances where someones life was immediately affected..changed insued.. Refs now look for the smallest reasons to stop a fight..when was the last time we seen a dramatic come from behind ko or win after a guy being extremly hurt or knocked down? Nobody built like that nomore! Boxing has changed dramatically.

When the fight gets stopped to early. The loser should have a round with the ref

The referee cheated the fans and Takam when he stopped the fight for no reason!

Tony Weeks stopped the fight when SOB punched Kovalev in the testicles three times in a row, clearly low! Instead he should have disqualified SOB or at the very least given SOB a warning, took a point away and given Kovalev 5 minutes rest. SOB landed many low blows before that as well. Bob Bennett refused to review the video, of course! Plus Count Drackula tried to call the Rigo cheating, but Bob Bennett lied live on HBO, holding the head and hitting, then landing a left hook clearly after the bell. HBO called out Bob Bennett for lying, proved it, so the decision was changed. The same should have been done for the Kovalev/SOB fight!
