Are you worried about judging for the Josh Taylor - Teofimo Lopez fight?

I believe Teofimo is mentally weak, if you derail his train early or confuse him you can throw him off. His corner is too incompetent to help him.
Kambosos rattled him, and Martin being a negative backfoot fighter confused him. Martin did enough to not lose against Lopez but his lack of power and low activity worked against him.

Teofimo is athletically gifted which gives him a boost over less gifted fighters like Taylor. 140 is not strong so he could beat up on lots of B/B+ fighters.

I don't think he is a P4P fighter like Loma or Inoue.
Catterall would have done better than Taylor.

i think the moral of this story is that it’s worth it for the McGuigans to pilfer from you as long as Shane’s your trainer

I've Not seen the fight but I'm shocked to see the result. Taylor looked in good shape and Lopez looked to be having a mental breakdown. Taylor has lost his last 2 and had a long period of inactivity. Will be interesting to see how he comes back.

Great win Lopez, congratulations to him.

Taylor made good money from the WBSS. I think he’s pretty much set money wise.

Congrats to Lopez. Hopefully after a long break Taylor can have some good fights at 147.

How many breaks can he have though? He’s not exactly been active in the last 2/3 years, 2 fights since lockdown?

I meant some recovery time tbh.

Probably all the ott unnecessary sparring the McGuigans made him do in training camps is catching up with him. He’s had a great career too, crammed a lot in.

Still has a better record by a mile than the grown man you obsess over consistently fights the best won all the belts from the champions back to back and all without retiring every 5 minutes or feigning a mental health campaign to try and sweeten public opinion I’ve added no punctuation so you can ingest this easier

Lopez deserved the win tonight his right hand is fantastic, landed constantly throughout the fight. Taylor should never have fought him on the outside, he should have used his natural size and strength and mauled him on the inside.

Taylor needs 2-3 more fights this year preferably now at 147. See where he is more than anything. Is it the weight/long layoffs that’s effected him or was he just beaten by the better fighter. No shame in losing to a man who’s beaten Lomachenko.

Lopez was too quick and smart for Taylor but still a good fight. I enjoyed it.

Disappointing that Sky just carries Top Rank's world feed. They should have had UK commentators to such a fight + studio build up.

Went right off Josh Taylor after Catterall fight. His attitude afterwards was absolutely shite.

Yeah, fair point - could do with keeping the same trainer if he has one more and do what he’s told - I suspect TR will try to cash him out somehow and that’ll be it.

Unsure mate. Plenty of fighters have retired on a defeat at world level like Groves, Frampton etc. No shame in it. Depends what he wants from now I guess. Rematches with Lopez and Catterall will get money in the bank but if he loses them 2 does he want to end on 3 defeats?
