alright, anyone who has any sense knows Calzaghe won. I had it by 1 round, 2 maybe, it was close. But he won, fair enough? Now, he didn't look great. He looks sloppy at times and wasn't as sharp at landing single shots as Hopkins. But guess what? No-one ever looks good against Hopkins! Hopkins is the ultimate spoiler, he takes athletically superior fighters who are much younger than him and makes them look bad. He made Tarver look awful, he made Taylor look awful, he made Winky Wright look awful. Everyone he fights looks bad against him. Hopkins is not in the same realm as Roy Jones Jr, James Toney, Floyd Mayweather or Pernell Whitaker in terms of skill. He is a spoiler! Thats what he does! He makes the other guy look bad. Thats why he's lasted so long despite being physically way past his best. I never saw Roy Jones faking injuries and running all night long like that. I've never seen ANY supposed ATG fight as cynically as that, using sly tricks and manipulation to steal the fight. ****ing hell, even Floyd Mayweather stands there and trades when he has too! Against a guy he can cruise against, like Baldomir, he cruises to a win. Against a guy who's dangerous, like Hatton, Mayweather can fight when he has too! Hopkins at the age of 43 can no longer fight when he has too. Joe was always going to be too active and too athletically superior to steal the fight awayfrom, and Hopkins should'e gone for broke and tried KOing him early. He didn't. He managed to hurt Calzaghe, and Calzaghe is not hard to counter, but instead of following up he tried to steal the fight. Bad tactics. You cant steal a fight against someone who's got such a high workrate. He ****ed up tactically and he lost. Game over. Anyone who thinks that he'd look that bad against Kelly Pavlik needs to shut up. Against a guy who comes forward in straight lines, who isn't hard crafty and hard to hit, Calzaghe tends to look spectacular ie Jeff Lacy, Byron Mitchell and Mikkel Kessler. Maybe Roy Jones has enough left in the tank to beat him, but I dunno. Glen Johnson or Chad Dawson would be good fights for Calzaghe at this time, perhaps Dawson could win, but dont mention Kelly Pavlik. Pavlik isn't big enough or skilful enough to beat joe, end of.
